About US:
American Tower Corporation (ATC) is the largest independent owner and operator
of shared wireless infrastructure in Uganda. ATC offers a variety of wireless
infrastructure solutions around the world that include towers, managed
networks, in-building and outdoor Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Small
Cells and Wi-Fi.
Job Summary: The Power Solutions Engineer will be responsible
for the implementation and operation of the power systems and solutions for the
customers. The role holder will implement power efficiency programs at the
sites.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of AVR setup and maintenance,
    power system installations and the testing of electrical equipment.
  • Manage the maintenance, refurbishment and
    commissioning of generator engines: Lister Peter, Perkins.
  • In charge of the configuration of ATS
    systems: DSE, Intel lite, Power Wizard 1.0, 1.2, 2.0
  • Alternator maintenance and installation:
    Leroy Somer, Stamford and Meccalte.
  • Responsible for wiring of ATS panels and
    reticulation to Delta BBS, Emerson Legacy systems and Huawei Power Cubes.
  • Working on RF systems with business
    partners.
  • Working on Transmission systems: Marconi
    MSH 41 and long haul systems. NEC Passo Link, Ericsson TN 6P, 20P and RAD
    SYSTEMS. Huawei RTN 910 TX Nodes and Fiber OSN Systems.
  • DC systems design: Power dimensioning for
    new site builds and upgrades on both -48VDC and +24VDC systems.
  • Site monitoring equipment: detailed
    analysis, reporting and power problem trending with corrective actions.
  • Understanding secondary battery
    fundamentals, calculating charging currents, provisioning for temperature
    compensation based on the manufacturers specifications.
  • Design, maintain and integrate HVAC
    (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems.
  • Conduct equipment integration with various
    software systems and platforms.
  • Reactive maintenance, preventative
    maintenance and quality control to ensure power availability.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the ATC Power Solutions
    Engineer should possess a good University Degree in Electrical Engineering
    preferred.
  • At least five years’ experience in
    Telecommunication Site Operations
  • Power systems experience
  • Hold a clean valid driver’s license
