THETA Uganda Limited is a National
Non-Governmental Organization established in 1995. Our primary mission is to
improve health of society through strengthening collaboration between the
traditional and biomedical health care systems through advocacy, research,
capacity development, partnerships and service-linkages.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
In
charge of developing and implementing advocacy strategies and corresponding
activities to advance specific policy change in support of Maternal, Newborn
and Child Health; Non Communicable Diseases; and HIV and AIDS including Key
Populations
·        
Routinely
inform national level policy efforts with lessons and information learned at
the district level
·        
Build
and grow partnerships and networks with key actors, stakeholders, and partners
working in the areas of Maternal, Newborn and Child; Non Communicable Diseases
and HIV and AIDS
·        
Actively
monitor and report on financial and political commitments relative to Maternal,
Newborn and Child; Non Communicable Diseases; and HIV and AIDS
·        
Build
on THETA’s current programs to develop and strengthen relationships with
targeted policy makers, key opinion leaders and partners to promote prioritized
policy changes at district and national level.
·        
Organize
and plan events, including meetings, workshops, forums, trainings, and
conferences as needed to make progress with prioritized policy changes.
·        
Support
local organizations to engage with program implementers and decision makers to
mobilize advocacy agendas.
·        
Contribute
to the development and dissemination of cross-organizational advocacy lessons
learned.
·        
Keenly
track the reporting requirements and participating report preparation as
necessary.
·        
Mentor
and supervise community based volunteers
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The
ideal candidate for the Program Officer Job should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
social sciences, public health, development studies, nursing
·        
At
least three years of relevant work experience. Prior work in direct advocacy
required.
·        
Demonstrated
ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex issues in a concise,
compelling, and easily understandable manner, including the ability to analyze
and draft policy.
·        
Demonstrated
success in planning and coordinating advocacy activities to support policy
goals.
·        
Demonstrated
ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government
personnel and NGO partners
·        
Extensive
knowledge and understanding of the political, social, economic, and cultural
context of Uganda.
·        
Familiarity
with global and national strategies that govern Maternal, Newborn and Child
Health; Non Communicable Diseases; and HIV and AIDS including Key Populations
·        
Expert
computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook.
·        
Willingness
to travel up-country as necessary
