Job Summary:  The
Head Internal Audit will support the Board Audit Committee and Senior
Management with internal control in the oversight of risk Management in the
corporation in line; with the annual strategic audit plan, schedule, standards
and corporation policies and procedures
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • The
    incumbent will be in charge of the development, documentation, implementation,
    testing and maintenance of a comprehensive internal audit plan and system
    of internal controls in line with applicable laws, regulations and
    corporation policies and procedures.
  • Routinely
    examine financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with corporation
    policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate
    the implementation of financial and operational procedures in all
    departments to ensure  adequate
    internal controls in line with guiding policies and procedures.
  • Routinely
    identify, assess and evaluate the corporation’s risk areas, make
    appropriate recommendations for improved internal controls and adopt
    industry best practice in line with guiding policies and procedures.
  • Support
    the corporation senior management staff to identify key business risks,
    assess the risks and establish risk management procedures and practices
    based on industry best practice and applicable legal framework.       
  • Manage
    the implementation and administration of the corporation’s whistleblower’s
    policy and respond in a timely manner to the raised complaints in line
    with the whistleblower’s policy.
  • Routinely
    review audit and investigative draft reports and identify        key relevant issues for management
    attention and Audit, committee of the board in line with guiding policies
    and procedures.           
  • Conduct
    research and respond to internal audit inquiries from the board audit
    committee, board chairman and senior
    management of the corporation in line with operational guidelines and
    procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Perform
    any other professional duties as may be required from time-to-time by the
    Board Audit Committee.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree (honors) in Finance
    or Accounting
  • The
    incumbent must also hold professional accounting qualifications i.e. CPA
    or ACCA
  • Professional
    Membership of Institute of Internal Auditors of Uganda is MUST.           
  • A
    minimum of five years’ Audit experience in a reputable organization
    preferably an Insurance company.
  • Computer
    literacy i.e. working knowledge of Information Management packages is an
    added advantage.
  • Highly
    self-driven, innovative and able to work long hours under minimum
    supervision.
