About US:
The Uganda National Council
for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a statutory organization mandated
facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of policies and
strategies for integrating Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) into the
national development process.  UNCST was
established by CAP 209, under the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic
Development.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • The
    incumbent will offer support towards establishment of S&T science
    parks and exhibition centers
  • In
    charge of maintaining an inventory and profile of local technologies and
    innovations with potential commercial value;
  • Share
    local innovations and research products to stakeholders, especially
    private sector actors;
  • Work
    in liaison with science and technology-based institutions to support
    appropriate technology management services and technology transfer
    systems;
  • Actively
    facilitate the carrying out of pilot projects and demonstrations of new
    technologies or innovations;
  • Offer
    technical support to upcoming production projects in different S&T
    strategic fields
  • Offer
    technical support to research government support to scientists’ projects
  • Perform
    any other duties as deemed fit by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Science Officer (Technology Infrastructure
    Management) career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in physical,
    natural or life sciences. Possession of a master’s degree in a relevant
    field is an added advantage
  • At
    least three years’ experience in a similar job positions
  • High
    level of confidence in relating with S&T stakeholders
  • The
    incumbent should possess excellent planning, budgeting, and reporting
    skills
  • Excellent
    communication and strong analytical skills.
  • Possess
    the ability to effectively represent the institution in national and
    international meetings
  • Detailed
    knowledge of Uganda’s science and technology policy environment and policy
    making in the country
  • High
    degree of integrity and commitment
  • Possess
    the ability to work independently and in a multi-cultural environment
  • Highly
    computer literate
  • Age: less than 35 years
