About RSCE:
The Regional
Service Centre Steering Committee is the decision-making body for RSCE, in
compliance with General Assembly resolutions, United Nations Secretariat rules
and regulations, strategic guidance from United Nations Headquarters and
oversight bodies. The Steering Committee consults with the Global Field Support
Strategy Implementation Coordination Team, as required.

Job Summary: The Accountant
will support the United Nations Regional Service Centre at Entebbe (RSCE) by
performing a variety of tasks including the maintenance and validation of
various operations with respect to accounting, resolution of queries from staff
and other UN units, and the preparation of financial statements and bank
reconciliation statements for the Centre’s Client Missions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Within
delegated authority, the Accountant will be responsible for the following

Keenly analyses accounts and reviews/evaluates
regular financial reports for the SPM and Peacekeeping Missions. Identifies problems and irregularities in
transactions and related accounts, and ensures resolving them in a timely and
effective manner.

The incumbent approves/Confirms that proposed
obligations or expenditure for services, facilities supplies and equipment
expenses, as well as those pertaining to personnel, are in accordance with the
Financial Regulations and Rules of the UN, relevant appropriations and staffing

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate for the United Nations Regional
Service Centre Entebbe Accountant job should hold an advanced university degree
(Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting
or related field. A first-level
university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in
lieu of the advanced university degree.
