Feed the Future Program:
Feed the Future, the U.S. Government’s
global hunger and food security initiative, is establishing a foundation for
lasting progress against global hunger. The Feed the Future Uganda Youth
Leadership for Agriculture is a 5 year Activity which will support Ugandan
partners, with youth in the lead, to identify and drive forward sustainable,
inclusive, and cost-effective approaches that put youth, especially female
youth, squarely in the agriculture sector as leaders, farmers, entrepreneurs,
and employees. The purpose of this flagship activity is to increase economic
opportunities for approximately 350,000 Ugandan female and male youth ages 10
to 35 in agriculture-related fields, in order to increase their incomes and
build their entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce readiness skills.
Job
Summary:
 The Behavior Change Communications (BCC)
Specialist will take lead in the  design
of the Activity communications strategy, participate in designing interventions
to identify BCC opportunities, and ensure integrated an approach between
objectives. S/he will also be responsible for providing oversight of and
collaborating with local partner Mango Tree to implement BCC-related technical
activities. The BCC Specialist will identify opportunities to build the
capacity of local partners in the areas of BCC.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        
Design
BCC campaigns aimed at multiple age groups to promote agriculture as a viable
and attractive career option for youth.
·        
Work
closely with COP and technical team to prepare technical deliverables, periodic
reports, and other communications products to ensure that Activity results and
key messages are communicated effectively to appropriate audiences.
·        
Work
in liaison with local media firms to help develop integrated public awareness
activities to educate youth and communities on sector opportunities, the value
of practical agricultural skills development, and business, technical,
vocational education and training.
·        
Work
closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to ensure that the
Activity Monitoring and Evaluation Plan includes appropriate indicators to
measure the success of BCC campaigns.
·        
Mentor
and train Kampala and regional staff on how to collect, measure, and report on
BCC data.
·        
Offer
technical oversight for local partner Mango Tree in designing and producing age
and gender-appropriate materials to expand technical, entrepreneurial, and
workforce readiness skills.
·        
Work
closely with local partners on peer mentoring and BCC related to sexual and reproductive
health messaging for youth, as well as efforts to improve household management
of resources.
·        
Train
local grantees and subcontractors in the areas of BCC and how they can utilize
it for their own organizational objectives.
·        
Perform
any other tasks assigned by the Chief of Party or his designate.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:  
·        
The applicant
must preferably hold a master’s degree in  education, business or other relevant
field. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with ten years’ experience
may be substituted for a Master’s degree.
·        
At least
six years’ experience in behavior change communications.
·        
Excellent
track record of achieving results in behavior change communications activities.
·        
Demonstrated
high level technical, analytical and interpersonal skills.
·        
Strong
English written and oral communication skills.
