Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)
and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the
organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host
communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,
Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek
to bridge relief to development.

Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts
of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.
Job
Summary:
The Protection Coordinator will offer technical support in the
integration of protection into emergency responses to ensure that protection
issues are identified and responded to in an appropriate manner in line with
global humanitarian and sectoral standards,and to lead on protection issues
with a strong focus on GBV and Child Protection in humanitarian responses.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Offer technical support, supervision and guidance
to the Protection teams (Psychosocial, GBV and Child Protection) at the field
level (incl. development of technical tools and guidance, tailored capacity
building plans, trainings and on-the-job coaching) in line with AAH Huma
Resource guidelines.
·        
Develop and monitor the implementation of the
protection programs including Protection monitoring, legal assistance and
community-based protection in line with AAH Monitoring and Evaluation, and donor
guidelines.
·        
Work in liaison with other AAH sectors (Health,
Community Services, Livelihoods and Education) to ensure that protection is
adequately addressed and mainstreamed across sectors and humanitarian
interventions in line with AAH and donor guidelines.
·        
Provide legal advice and guidance on protection
issues to persons of concern; liaise with competent authorities to ensure the
issuance of personal and other relevant documentation in line with donor
guidelines and generally accept procedures.
·        
Oversee and manage individual protection cases
including those on SGBV and child protection. Monitor, and intervene in cases
of murder, assault, defilement, expulsion and other protection incidents
through working relations with government agencies and other partners.
·        
Significantly contribute to the design,
implementation and evaluation of protection related Age, Gender and Disability
(AGD) based programming with implementing and operational partners.
·        
Actively contribute to capacity-building
initiatives for communities and individuals to assert their rights in line with
generally acceptable procedures and AAH guidelines.
·        
Recommend durable solutions for the largest
possible number of persons of concern through voluntary repatriation, local
integration and where appropriate, resettlement.
·        
Work closely with the implementing and operating
partners, conduct eligibility and status determination for persons of concern
in compliance with donor procedural standards and international protection
principles.
·        
Prepare and submit timely and accurate donor
reports and reporting requirements of protection programming in line with AAH
and donor guidelines.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicant for the Protection Coordinator job
opportunity should hold a University degree in Law, International Law,
political Sciences, Social Work, Public Health, Human Rights or other relevant
field.
·        
At least five years (2 years with Advanced
University degree) of relevant professional experience in the implementation of
GBV, child protection and protection programming in emergency and stabilization
contexts.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of best
practices and strategies in Protection, Child protection and GBV response (case
management, psychosocial support, etc.) and prevention and risk reduction.
·        
Past exposure and experience in community-based
protection, specifically working in refugee settings
·        
Previous experience setting up protection
monitoring and legal assistance programs
·        
Prior experience working with refugees or persons
of concern from South Sudan, Burundi, Somalia at camp (field) level.
·        
The ideal candidate will be expected to be
sensitive to the operational realities and to possess a certain level of maturity
and perform well in dynamic and stressful situations.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of GBVIMS and
child protection information management systems and protection information
management in general.
·        
Significant experience in advocacy to government
counterparts (Ministries, Police, District, e.t.c), donors and UN agencies on
protection.
·        
Good IT skills including database management
skills.
·
