Job
Summary:
The Communications Manager works in close collaboration with the
Country Representative, Project Directors, and field teams to manage MSH
communications activities. He updates and oversees the implementation of the
MSH communications plan as necessary. The Country Communications Manager will
primarily ensure the quality of MSH communications in-country and evaluates
efficiency and impact of the communication initiatives and ensures
effectiveness and adequate branding of the projects in line with MSH and donor
branding guidelines. Working with other communications resources within
project, s/he manages visibility events and media engagement in MSH-led
activities. The job holder will support communications for business
development. Provide technical supervision to communications specialists in
projects. The Country Communications Manager handles both internal and external
communications in close collaboration with the MSH HO Communications team.
Manages the MSH Uganda platforms on OLLIE (MSH Intranet) and trains and
supports other staff to make their contributions. In addition to the
country-wide communications tasks, the Country Communications Manager may
perform communications functions for specific projects. An example is the
anticipated support to the communication functions of the Uganda Health Supply
Chain (UHSC) project. Leads the MSH Uganda communications technical working

Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Steer and oversee the work of the cross-project
Communications Technical Working Group
·        
Manage the MSH brand in country and develop
communication products to promote MSH visibility.
·        
Develop, update, implement, monitor, and track the
communications plan.
·        
Undertake communications tasks under UHSC project
in close collaboration with the project team. (A specific scope of work will be
provided by the UHSC project).
·        
Work closely with the media in close collaboration
with the Country Representative to enhance MSH visibility.
·        
Keep abreast with key project activities and
report results from all MSH projects in the country.
·        
Ensure internal and external awareness of
up-to-date MSH information such as through the resource center and other
channels.
·        
Arrange and manage the communications role of the
country representative, including organizing stakeholder and media events
providing talking points and key messages, disseminating summaries of key
messages, monitoring visits to the country events by strategic partners,
preparing pitch notes, speeches and presentations including preparing appropriate
video clips and photographs.

Support communications for business development
·        
Offer technical guidance and quality control for
Project Communications Specialists
·        
Present communication updates to Country
Representative and the Country Leadership Team.
·        
Compile quarterly and biannual country reports for
review by the Country Representative and submission to home office.
·        
Actively participate in field activities to
capture key lessons and best practices.
·        
Coordinate special field visits activities aimed
at showcasing MSH impact.
·        
Work closely with Home Office communications team
to disseminate MSH results and updates to a broad global audience.
·        
Ensure the country information on the MSH external
and internal (Ollie) websites is continuously updated and staff informed
accordingly. Provide updates to MSH intranet and on Friday Focus. Train and
motivate staff to make contributions to OLLIE
·        
Ensure professional and accurate media engagement
of MSH, in coordination with the Director of Strategic Communications in the
Home Office.
·        
Represent MSH at communications related activities
at national and international level.
·        
Edit technical documents where appropriate
·        
Perform other country and project communications
duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold an Advanced
degree in communication and journalism
·        
At least ten years’ working experience in
communication working at the community, regional, national and international
levels. NGO experience is added advantage
·        
Strong working knowledge of salient communications
interventions to document and share organization successes.
·        
Strong media engagement skills and ability to
promote MSH visibility to external audiences.
·        
Previous experience in designing strategic
corporate information and communication plans and activities.
·        
Demonstrated ability in the monitoring and
evaluation of large corporate communication interventions.
·        
Strong skills and ability to produce high quality
promotional materials through field photographs, testimonies and video clips.
Experience in using social media.
·        
Strong skills and ability to communicate technical
information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical
colleagues.
·        
Previous experience in advocacy, networking and
collaboration with other partners.
·        
Ability to work in teams and maintain collegial
working relationships with partners, donors and staff.
·        
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal
communication skills.
·        
Fluency in English.
