is currently implementing “Enabling Synergy between Organized and Enterprising
People” (ESO-EP) program which is financed by the Belgian Federal Government.
The programme main focus areas are the Bunyoro and West Nile regions. The
overall objective of this programme is to support family farmers and small
scale entrepreneurs to improve their livelihood. There are 11 partners in this
programme: 4 District Farmers Associations, 3 Sacco’s, Hofokam, UNFFE, USSIA and
Tunado. These partners provide skills training, assist in access to markets and
market integration, and facilitate access to finance for family farmers and
entrepreneurs. They build social fabric by organizing family farmers and
entrepreneurs in sustainable organizations. They link and network with other
(local) stakeholders like other civil society organizations, (focal)
government, and the private sector; as well as in some cases with Trias’
constituency in Belgium.

Job Summary: The Micro-Finance Advisor will support the four micro-Finance
partners so that they become strong and sustainable organizations that provide
quality services to their members. The close collaboration of the Micro-Finance
partners with the District Farmers’ Association
has shown to be very instrumental in Trias’ programmes. Trias also supports the
other partners in micro-finance-related activities, like the collaboration
between Tunado and Hofokam.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will also contribute towards
streamlining of MF support to all MF partner organisations of TRIAS Uganda
- Actively contribute towards the building-up
of knowledge and expertise in Micro-Finance within TRIAS Together with the
Agro-Enterprise Development advisors, to support Nebbi and Arua partners
to manage their programme in a well-coordinated and harmonised manner - Contribute to the Organisational Development
and Institutional Strengthening (OD/IS) component of the programmes,
specifically with regard to the Micro Finance partners - Contribute in preparing proposals and provide
quality reports to donors who financially support the MF partners - Provide technical support in building strategic
alliances with like-minded organisations - Actively participate in and contribute to the
Trias Uganda team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a relevant degree (minimum Bachelors,
preferably a Master) in finance/financial management related subject or a
similar level acquired by a combination of education and work experience - A minimum of three years’ experience in
executing program related responsibilities within a financial/
developmental organization - The ideal candidate should be Micro-finance
professional with significant experience in the Not-For-Profit /
development sector and with Member-Based Organisations, such as SACCO’s. - Significant experience/knowledge in working
with/or affinity with Member-based Organizations (MBOs), especially with
SACCO’s - Practical experience at operational, tactical
and strategic levels of MFI MBOs - Previous experience in working with and
supporting professional staff and elected Board members of MBO’s,
especially SACCO’s - Some experience in contributing to proposal
writing for new programmes and in report writing - Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and
enthusiasm as well as a willingness to learn and to be continually
adaptive within a dynamic and often self-directed working environment - Diplomacy and tact
- Good team player
- Affinity and experience with entrepreneurship
- Good knowledge of English is required.
Knowledge of one or some of the languages (Lugbara and/or Alur) of the
West Nile region where Trias is engaging is an asset - Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Office
365 - Good knowledge of modern communication media
