Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will support various
projects in the functions of; budgeting preparation, monitoring and tracking of
all project expenditures and making regular reporting of such to both Project
Coordinators and the Finance Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Budget preparation,
monitoring and project financial reporting:

- Prepare annual budgets for various projects.
- In charge of monitoring, tracking and
reporting of all project expenditures against budget on a monthly basis
within the partner reporting deadlines. - Make periodic billing of all projects staff
costs, general expenditures and reimbursements - Communicate to collaborators/partners of any
changes within JCRC that may affect their budgets - Prepare and submit financial reports for the
different projects in line with donor requirements. - Actively participate in the drafting of
Annual financial statements by providing any required information - Prepare for internal and external audits for
projects by ensuring compliance with partner rules and regulations and
maintain all project files and ensure completeness, accuracy - Capture all project related transactions in
the accounting systems - Capture and depreciate project assets in the
finance management system. - Render support in the preparation of annual
financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
2. Treasury Management:
- Prepare cash flow forecast for various
projects including revenue projections - Initiate bank transfers and ensure optimal
foreign exchange dealing with bankers - Conduct regular reconciliations of all
project bank accounts under your authority - Keenly track grant income and expenditure in
line with grant budgets and advise fellow staff on progress and areas of
improvement. - Communicate project requirements and
guidelines to staff and other key stakeholders. - Validate and arrange payment files for
various projects for timely reimbursement to eliminate operational
bottlenecks. - Perform any other duties that may be assigned
to you by your superiors from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should ideally hold a bachelor’s
degree in accounting or any Business related degree course with a major in
accounting. - Possession of profession qualification in
ACCA, CPA or CIMA - At least five years of progressive and
professional accounting - Significant experience of coordinating
finance and contractual compliance of donor funded programmes. - Practical knowledge of accounting software
packages preferably NAV Dynamics. - Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills and should be a good team player. - Previous exposure and experience in drafting
progress summaries for various projects identifying potential bottlenecks
and corrective course of action. - Significant experience in dealing with
international partners in a medical field is an added advantage.
