Uganda Limited (IAU) is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization
established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU
is actively involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement
of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and
in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of
Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health
(HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation
& Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management
and Governance systems.
Job Summary: The SGBV Assistant will provide support to the
SGBV Counsellor in the implementation of programme activities for the
prevention and response of SGBV in the refugee communities, and the promotion
of protection integration activities through coordination with other
stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Render support to the SGBV counsellor in
    organizing continuous refresher talks for refugee community SGBV Peer
    Educators during the monthly meetings.
  • Support the SGBV counsellor in organizing
    awareness and sensitization campaigns in refugee communities including men
    and boys in the SGBV prevention and response.
  • Offer technical support to the SGBV
    counsellor in facilitating refugees to interpret SGBV IEC materials in
    different refugee languages.
  • Provide support to the SGBV counsellor in
    Organizing and conducting informative meetings with SGBV institutions.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports
  • Offer technical support to the SGBV
    counsellor in developing quarterly work plans and implementing the
    community services activities.
  • Where necessary, provide psychosocial
    counselling to identified SGBV Survivors and conduct home visits for
    vulnerable cases with special needs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
    from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor/Degree
    in Social work, Human rights, political science, law or other related
    field;
  • One (1) years of progressive relevant work
    experience in counselling survivors of gender-based violence or vulnerable
    women and girls;
