Job Summary: The WASH Engineering Assistant will support the
implementation of Concern worldwide WASH interventions by producing plans and
BOQs for rehabilitation of defective boreholes, and supervision of contractors.
The incumbent will actively participate in capacity building of local
government to increase access to improved water sources and sanitation
facilities. The jobholder will also ensure the contractor adheres to standard
of work specified in contract agreements. The incumbent will use social behaviour
change strategies to improve hygiene behaviours and knowledge in communities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
    in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Health Engineering
    or other similar discipline.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in WASH
    engineering in a challenging environment.
  • Previous experience in managing/supervising
    contractors is an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of AUTOCAD and/or GiS.
  • Proven knowledge on best practices in water,
    sanitation, and hygiene (Safe water chain) is essential.
  • Familiarity with other participatory
    methodologies of hygiene and sanitation promotion, Social Behaviour Change
    Communication and LCCA approach.
  • Strong reporting skills.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written
    English.
  • Ability to communicate in Ngakarimajong,
    Pokot and/or Luo is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a motorbike permit (Class A) is
    desirable.
