Job Summary: The Senior Manager-MFS Ecosystem Development will
be in charge of generating new business for the Mobile Financial Services to
market stream, acquire new MFS revenue streams by creating opportunities in
value chains MFS is currently not serving and improve existing ones. The
incumbent will facilitate growth into the Corporate and SME environment through
generation of customized partnerships. Specifically, the jobholder will  create innovation in the B2C, B2B, C2B, C2C
and other emerging digital financial services areas to grow the MFS ecosystem. The
incumbent will manage strategic relationships with financing partners like
BMGF, UNCDF, FSDU and those or corporate partners to facilitate portfolio
growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of defining MTN Uganda’s new
    digital financials services opportunity strategy aligned with the MTN Group
    strategy and Uganda’s mission and vision
  • The incumbent will scan, research,   prototype and pilot new ecosystem value
    chains, converting viable ones into  
    implementation strategies to grow the financial services ecosystem
  • Assess market changes, competition,
    technological advancements, political and economic changes to propose new ecosystem
    growth opportunities
  • Research needs of  other companies, SMEs and potential
    financial services partners to provide and provide customized solutions
    meeting their needs
  • Holistically, the jobholder will manage the
    business development process from partner investigation through contract execution
    and post contract partner management.
  • Create the ecosystem market development plan
    including competitive landscape, gap analysis, market TAM, differentiation
    plan and vertical opportunities.
  • Build and monitor business cases for
    expanding into new financial services opportunities, and measuring their
    feasibility to viable value chain implementations
  • Build, strengthen and manage relations with
    key external and internal innovation partners, especially building funding
    requests for approval and implementation
  • Forecast, plan and develop strategic business
    plans and budgets
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the MTN Telecom Senior
    Manager-MFS Ecosystem Development career opportunity should hold a minimum
    of four years tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business
    Administration, Engineering or Marketing or preferably a Master’s degree
  • A minimum of seven to ten years’ experience
    as a business development professional
  • At least five years’ experience, three years
    in relevant sector/ industry
  • Four years’ experience in a senior management
    role for a multinational company in telecommunications, mobile financial services
  • Worked across diverse cultures and
    geographies is advantageous
  • Previous experience in strategic
    partner/relationship   management
  • Prior exposure and experience in customer
    data and field visit experience to manage the day-to-day growth   of the business
  • Previous exposure and experience  in managing developer programs including
    leading of research teams and prototyping
  • Prior experience working with a variety of
    partners from startups to established companies
  • Training in financial services training or
    mobile money-related training is preferred
  • Working knowledge in writing comprehensive
    reports and effective communication with all levels of   Senior Management
  • Working knowledge in the development of
    comprehensive and detailed business cases to drive the business and
    motivate proper budget allocation
  • Broad knowledge and presentation skills using
    MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and other relevant   software (for the purpose of analyzing
    data and producing reports to Senior Management)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payment ecosystem
  • Working knowledge in product development,
    roll out and product performance management
  • Working knowledge in research development
    using different research methodologies
  • Appetite for innovation and continuous
    improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside of the
    norm and present new ways of getting things done
  • Strong negotiation skills- Contract negotiation
    experience is paramount.
