Uganda
Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) is one of the national
Examinations Boards in Uganda whose mandate is to streamline, regulate,
coordinate and conduct credible examinations and award Certificates and
Diplomas in the Business, Technical and Vocational professions. The Board
therefore conducts Business, Technical and Vocational examinations, including
Applied Science specialties such as Biological Sciences (Agricultural,
Fisheries, Wildlife, Forestry, Bee keeping and other related fields), Physical
Sciences (Meteorology, Surveys and Land Management, and other related fields),
Cooperative, Social Development, Hotel, Catering and Tourism.
Job Summary: The Research and Policy Officer will manage
research and policy matters of the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations
Board (UBTEB).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enforce procedures put in place for the
    conduct of research and disseminate of knowledge;
  • Prepare and submit examination reports;
  • Develops research proposals;
  • The incumbent will also develop examination
    assessment tools/manuals;
  • Prepare and submit feedback reports;
  • Responsible for the development and revision
    of examination policies and guidelines;
  • Develop policy briefs and position papers;
  • Carry out baseline data on Board activities
    to support policy development;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the
    Principal Officer, Research and Quality Assurance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Research and Policy
    Officer job opportunity should hold an honours Bachelor’s Degree in the
    field of Economics, Statistics, Policy and Planning, Economic Policy and
    Management, Public Policy and Management and Education
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Policy
    and Education related research at a managerial level in a relevant
    Business or Technical fields, in a reputable organisation.
  • Computer proficiency in key statistical
    packages i.e. STATA, EPI-Info, SPSS, E-Views
  • Proven skills in Research and Policy
    Development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team
    building
  • Excellent report writing and communication
    skills
  • Impeccable level of integrity
  • Proven skills in research and policy
    development
  • Demonstrable judgment and crave for technical
    details
  • Excellent skills in data analysis
  • Time management skills and ability
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Age: Above 30 years.
