Job Summary: The Director Finance and Operations (DFO) will be
in charge of leading a finance team, overseeing operations of a company/social
enterprise, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse,
talented individuals. The DFO must be a strong leader who is able to support
and help others at Mango Tree perform successfully in their respective roles
that make the MT vision a reality. Importantly, the successful DFO will have
the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that
each member of the team brings to the company. While it is essential that the
DFO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity and
financial management of the organization, is it also critical that the team
retains the creative spark that drives Mango Tree forwards. The jobholder will
also be responsible for Mango Tree’s financial management strategy. In addition,
the incumbent will be charged with reviewing and updating policies and
procedures both in the finance and general operational realms with the aim to
increase efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and profitability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Financial Management:
  • Guide the Managing Director and the senior
    management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities,
    and policy matters.
  • Serve as the management liaison to the board
    and auditors; effectively communicate and present critical financial
    matters at select board of directors and committee meetings.
  • Represent the organization externally, as
    necessary, and deputise for the MD during leave periods.
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the
    finance and operations teams.
  • The incumbent will render support to other
    Mango Tree branches.
2. Operations:
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system
    of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual
    budget process.
  • Ensure that Mango Tree is adhering to the strategic
    plan, delivering status reports to the board and Managing Director as
    needed.
  • Improve administrative and operational
    accounting services such as budgeting, cash flow forecasting, pricing,
    contracting, procurement, payment processing, payroll administration,
    allocation of costs to projects, accounts payable, and debt collection.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should possess a Business or
    Accounting degree. Possession of a master’s in business administration is
    preferred
  • At least five years’ experience in a senior
    management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial
    management experience gained in a high-growth organization
  • The applicant should be a dynamic open-minded
    professional with a solid financial background and five or more years’
    business experience.
  • The successful candidate will have extensive
    business and financial management experience. As noted, this is an
    organization driven by the values of its people, so experience in managing
    a “values-driven” organization will be highly prized.
  • Previous experience either as an employee or
    board member of a for profit organization or social enterprise
  • Excellent track record of success
    facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a
    growing organization
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem
    solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a
    team with diverse levels of expertise
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask
  • Superior management skills; ability to
    influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • High level of business acumen including
    successful P&L management
  • Ability to balance the delivery of projects
    for clients against the realities of a budget
  • Broad knowledge and experience in program budgeting
    and fiscal management.
