Job Summary: The Security Manager will be tasked
with managing the security of Fund assets.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Manage
    and provide specialized security support for the Fund’s geographical
    locations. Ensure that security at the Fund’s offices, premises and
    properties are all effectively executed and respond to security
    emergencies in the Fund
  • Contract
    management and supervision of outsourced security firms. Co-ordinate the
    opening and locking of offices and take custody as well as record keys for
    Fund offices at the head office
  • Conduct
    security risk audits and assessments in order to advise management about
    improvement on security measures and procedures within the Fund.
  • Work
    closely with external security agencies and specialized private security
    and safety service providers on matters of security of the Fund and
    stakeholders.
  • Train
    and sensitize staff on security matters, vet applications of external
    security providers, review/draft security policies and manuals of the
    Fund.
  • Provide
    advice to the Fund on requirements and specifications for appropriate
    building security systems including access controls fire/smoke detection
    systems, etc.
  • Work
    closely with Property Manager and Property Agent to ensure fire drills are
    done including availability and training of fire marshals, ensure regular
    testing of smoke detectors and fire alarm systems is done, and also ensure
    that all emergency equipment undergoes regular servicing.
  • The
    jobholder will also promptly investigate all cases of Fraud and other
    security related breaches ensuring that cases are reported to police.
  • Draw
    budget estimates for the security section, monitor and report on this
    element of the budget. Budget should mainly cover safety equipment,
    investigations, etc
  • Take
    part in business continuity planning and disaster recovery implementation
  • Actively
    participate in ad hoc committees whenever nominated
Qualifications, Skills
and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the National Social Security Fund Security Manager career placement should hold a University
    Degree from a recognized institution
  • Military
    / Police training background is mandatory
  • At
    least three to five years of security experience within the military;
    national or international police, or at a supervisory level within the
    security industry or within a large organization.
  • Knowledge
    and awareness of the relevant legislative environment and industry
    practices related to the mission area; protective security, fire safety,
    crisis management, business continuity planning, commercial fraud
    prevention and investigation, information security with the ability to
    achieve professional and/or educational accreditation.
  • Computer-literate
    but a post graduate diploma in it security would be added advantage.
  • Excellent
    analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good
    investigative skills.
  • Information
    intelligence; ability to gather information from a variety of sources.
  • Knowledge
    in the use and maintenance of standard security and communications
    equipment;
  • Knowledge
    and experience of identifying and assessing security risks.
