Job Summary: The Logistics Intern will work closely with
relevant medical bureau secretariat, USAID / Uganda Health Supply chain staff,
MOH staff to ensure effective implementation of SPARS, Pharmaceutical Financial
Management, supportive supervision, support Primary Health Care fund
utilization from JMS and other facility based interventions targeted at PNFP
health facilities. The Intern will also
work closely with the faith based medical bureau, Logistics advisors and
executive secretary to ensure that all USAID / UHSC technical assistance,
capacity building and pharmaceutical information system activities are
adequately implemented in the PNFP health facilities within the medical bureau
network; and that results are adequately documented.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer support to the medical bureau in
development of appropriate implementation plans and timelines for roll out
of SPARS and all other medical bureau collaboration activities with USAID
/ UHSC. - Support the medical bureau logistic advisor
in coordination of SPARS activities in the medical bureau health facility
network to ensure that medical bureau network facilities are able to adopt
positive practices towards supply chain including the procurement, storage
and distribution of essential medicines and supplies required for assuring
continuous availability of these commodities. - Under the guidance of the logistics advisor, the
Intern will coordinate with regional/ district bureau structures in
supporting MMS to be more efficient and effective. - Using the PIP/ DSDS conduct regular
monitoring of health facility and MMS performance for quality improvement
purposes. - Offer technical support to bureau network
facilities to ensure utilization of the newly created PHC budget line and
other services at JMS. - Work closely with the medical bureau logistic
advisor, the UHSC district computerization team and medical bureau IT
staff, to coordinate set up of model Rx Solution sites in the medical
bureau network facilities. - Work with the medical bureau executive
secretary and logistics advisors to coordinate piloting and rolling out of
new interventions like cost recovery, health Insurance schemes and
pharmaceutical financial management in health facilities within the
medical bureau network. - Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidates for the Logistics Intern
jobs should hold professional degrees in a health area; including pharmacy,
medicine, public health. - Work experience in providing pharmaceutical
management services especially in the area of supply chain of at least one
year is desirable but not mandatory - Previous work with Uganda PNFP health system
will be an added advantage. - Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in MS
Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Excellent organizational, administrative,
analytic and communications skills. - Fluency in both oral and written English
required. - Strong teamwork and team-building skills
- Willingness to travel widely within the
Uganda. - Willingness to be flexible and adapt to
changing priorities and shifting deadlines.
