Limited (NVPPCL), started business in March 1986. It is a multimedia business
housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing, television, radio
broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and distribution services.
NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of
over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Job Summary: The Trainee Printer will ensure good quality
printing jobs are printed as per set standards and guidelines, and machines are
maintained in good working condition.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure a clean, timely and quality print job.
  • Assist the printer with inks, solvents and
    paper set up to minimize time loss.
  • Set ink rollers in order to balance the flow
    of ink on the paper. .
  • Assist in changing worn out blankets in order
    to improve the quality of the print on the paper.
  • Maintain and prepare the machine for all
    printing activities.
  • Register colors in order to achieve the
    perfect image printout.
  • The jobholder will also service and maintain
    machines to keep them in good running order.
  • Fill the machine ducts of different units
    with ink in order to enable the ink pass on to the paper.
  • Interpret an instruction ticket/job card in
    order to prevent wastage.
  • Responsible for matching color guides/ client
    proof with what is being printed.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to the health
    and safety guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the New Vision Trainee
    Printer opportunity should at least hold a Diploma in mechanical or
    Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • The applicants should have at least two
    principal passes in Mathematics and English.
  • Enthusiasm in learning and understanding
    printing and machine operations.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Highly flexible, committed with an eye for
    detail and keen to deliver work on time.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure.
  • Willingness to work long hours and night
    shifts.
