Job Summary: The Manager, Domestic Payments will oversee domestic
payments in all aspects of the business and is accountable for all domestic
payment teams and represents domestic payments at all internal forums.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Execution:
- The incumbent provides leadership to the
Domestic Payments team through implementation of best practices to meet
the needs of the customers - Collaborates with the Manager, Payments to
develop and operationalize plans to meet the domestic payments agenda and
continuously analyses the payments process and measures it against benchmarks
to ensure effective management of domestic payments - Manages Service Level Agreements with the
various stakeholders / customers through understanding of requirements and
service level expectations to ensure that the Domestic Payments function
continues to meet and exceed the customers’ needs
2. Customer and Business
Partner Relationship Management:

- The incumbent identifies customer service
expectations, applies SLAs and aligns to the Customer Value Proposition in
order to deliver an appropriate service; - Investigates customers’ complaints relating
to payments by continuously interacting with the various customers to
ensure high service levels by Payment function.
3. Cost Management:
- Develops and implements tactical initiatives
to reduce cost to ensure that
targets for the Domestic Payments function are met - Ensures that throughput is maximised
throughout the payments function by implementing principles of Lean
manufacturing and Six Sigma
4. Operational

- The jobholder identifies and defines operational
performance metrics geared towards meeting Domestic Payments objectives by
leveraging opportunities; - Collaborates with other areas through
continuous interactions to ensure that best practices are implemented and
a standard approach is followed; - Provides accurate and timeous MIS as per the
matrix agreed with Centre (ROA Operations) to enable informed decision
making.
5. Control:
- Identifies, assesses and mitigates the risks
facing both systems and business processes thereby minimising the operational
risks. - Works closely with business stakeholders in
ensuring that regulatory, group policy standards and minimum operating
procedures are observed to minimise the Bank’s exposure to risk

- Facilitates a performance management and career
development culture through mentoring and motivating in regular team and
one-on-one meetings to ensure optimal performance and minimise staff
turnover rate. - Ensures that the correct calibre of staff is
recruited by participating in the recruitment process thereby ensuring the
Domestic Payments function has the correct talent to meet the Strategic
goals at all times. - Ensures that resources are skilled across the
different processes to enable cross product and cross function workload
balancing.
6. Self-Development:
- Identifies appropriate formal and
occupational (informal) training needs and courses (internal/external) to
develop oneself. - Up-Skills oneself regarding new products and
procedures through attendance of workshops/presentations and reading of internal
and external communications
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Manager,
Domestic Payments career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Business or a related field - Applicable certification
- A minimum of five years’ experience in
management of complex operations, ideally within the corporate financial
service sector - Process / project management experience will
be an added advantage - Skilled in building and maintaining
relationships - Broad knowledge and understanding of the
various products and systems used within payments. - Broad knowledge and understanding of
corporate banking and the interface between frontline service, sales and
support functions. - Comprehensive understanding of banking
transaction processes relevant to products and services offered to
customers. - Hands-on knowledge of how to input, access
and utilize information to analyze forecast trends. - Working knowledge and principles of capacity
management in terms of resource options, availability and costs. - Extensive knowledge of cost management
principles and practices. - Knowledge of the applicable legislation.
