Eastern Private Sector Promotion Enterprise Ltd (SEPSPEL) evolved from Busia
Private Sector Promotion Centre, which was established in 1998 by the Ministry
of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) and the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) as a GoU/UNDP programme which ended in 2002. We
target Vulnerable Households with interventions including; Livelihoods,
Education, Child Protection, Health, Water and Sanitation. We also build the
capacities of the Private Sector through trainings, mentorship and on job
coaching. In Partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), we will be
implementing two OVC projects; Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth
(SOCY) and DREAMS Wakiso and Gomba Districts.
Job Summary: The Youth Empowerment Officer will mainly be responsible
for implementing and promoting SEPSPEL’s Vulnerable Children and youth
Protection Policies and Procedures in line with the SOCY methodology.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Create community based networks that increase
    care and protection  for vulnerable
    children  and youth
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships
    with relevant structures (informal and formal) that increase wellbeing of
    vulnerable children, youth and their families
  • Oversee the psychosocial support responses to
    vulnerable children and youth
  • Stimulate socio economic growth of youth and
    their families through several project 
    integrated approaches
  • Increase resilience and assertiveness amongst
    adolescents and youth through life skills support programs in communities
  • Foster relevant responses to HIV/AIDS, cancer,
    environmental concerns at family and community level
  • Stimulate functional referral lines that
    enhance critical services for vulnerable children, youth and their
    families
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The applicant should at least hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree in Social Sciences, Social Works, Development Studies, Human Rights
    or other related fields.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Child
    Protection and youth empowerment interventions
  • Familiarity with Child Protection and youth
    policies in Uganda
  • Possess basic counseling skills to strengthen
    effective response
  • No record of involvement in child abuse
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid
    Class A permit
  • Must be willing to settle within project area
  • Age: Between
    22-35 years old
