Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end pediatric
HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. We
are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15
countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of
HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the
highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over the last 25
years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States and new
infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF Uganda Country
program is currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with
various donors.

The
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is implementing the Saving
Lives at Birth (SL@B) project that aims at development of a Model for National
Scale-up of the Pratt Pouch to Expand Infant Nevirapine prophylaxis in Uganda
to Prevent Mother-to-child Transmission of HIV, and Save Infant Lives. The Elizabeth
Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), the Ugandan Ministry of Health (MOH)
and Pratt Pouch Consulting will be introducing and scaling up the Pratt Pouch
in Uganda’s ANC, delivery, and PNC services. To build an effective model for
national scale-up, the project will utilize the Pratt Pouch as an improved
infant ARV prophylaxis delivery mechanism to improve dosing accuracy and expand
NVP access to HIV-exposed infants in up to 20 districts to decrease the number
of HIV-infected infants at six weeks of age.

Job Summary: The Program Coordinator will take charge of the
planning and implementation of the Saving Lives at Birth (SL@B) project
activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will also coordinate the
procurement of the repackaging materials (Pratt pouches) and repackaging
of Nevirapine suspension at National Medical Stores (NMS). The jobholder will
work closely with MOH and Implementing partners to develop and implement
out the national roll-out of repackaged infant Nevirapine in the project
supported districts; and coordinate capacity building activities of
implementing partners, regional and district resource persons. - Take lead of the process of the development of
training packages, standard operating procedures (SOPs), tools and job
aides that will guide the roll out of the repackaged Nevirapine
suspension; and assure the availability and quality of medicines and other
commodities. - The incumbent will also coordinate and work
with implementing partners and district health team to ensure timely
forecasting, quantification and ordering of the repackaged Nevirapine
suspension as part of the existing supply chain ordering and reporting
process for HIV commodities. - She/he will coordinate capacity building of
the implementing partners and regional and district resource persons on
use of repackaged Nevirapine suspension; and development of roll out plans
to their respective supported districts and health facilities. - Work with the Supply Chain and Logistics
Advisor team to generate and share the repackaged Nevirapine stock status
reports at the Central Medical Stores, and also coordinate compilation of
stock status of Nevirapine suspension at all the supported PMTCT
implementing facilities. Work with the monitoring and Evaluation team to
ensure timely data collection, implementation of project evaluation
activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor
of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and/or
a master’s degree in Public Health - A minimum of five years of professional
experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention, care & treatment, and MNCH
programs. - Five years of professional experience in
procurement and supply chain management of medicines and commodities to support delivery of key HIV and MNCH
services. - Hands-on knowledge and skills in designing,
planning, implementing and monitoring MNCH/PMTCT programs. - Excellent technical writing and oral
presentation skills are highly desired.
