merchants such as Alliance One to supply the majority of their leaf. As a
result, Alliance One purchases tobacco in more than 45 countries and serves
manufacturers of cigarettes and other consumer tobacco products in over 90
countries. Alliance One proudly claims broad geographic processing
capabilities, a diversified product offering, and an established customer base,
which includes all of the major consumer tobacco product manufacturers. They
select, purchase, process, pack, store, ship, and, in certain developing
markets, provide agronomy expertise and financing for growing leaf tobacco.
Alliance One’s revenues are primarily comprised of sales of processed tobacco
and fees charged for related services to manufacturers of consumer tobacco
products around the world. They do not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer
tobacco products.
Job Summary: The Agricultural Labour Practices Coordinator will
ensure that the management and sustainability of and compliance to the
Agricultural Labour Practices in Alliance One Tobacco Uganda in line with AOI
Agronomy and AOTU ALP Standard Operating Procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Agricultural Labour
Practices (ALP) Planning: Actively contributes to the ALP annual
activity plan and devolves it into monthly and weekly plans, contributes to and
monitors the annual budget, and identifies variances for the approval of the Agronomy
Sustainability Analyst Office Administration
2. Implementation of the
Alp Plan:
  • Work closely with the Head of Agronomy to contribute
    to the identification, and manages the implementation of ALP Programmes
    for AOTU.
  • Mentors and trains field teams
  • The incumbent recovers and analyses relevant
    statistical data and prepares for external audit for approval of Agronomy
    Sustainability Analyst in compliance with AOI ALP Policies and Procedures
  • Recovers the ALP statistical data from the
    Field Staff, evaluates and processes for onward submission to the Agronomy
    Sustainability Analyst and maintains an overview of the relevant ALP
    programmes to ensure adherence by Field Staff in compliance with the
    Agronomy ALP AOP;
3. Customer and
Stakeholder Relationships: Works in liaison with the Head of
Agronomy, contributes to the development of customer and stakeholder
relationships in related Companies and local Government and general Communities
in line with AOI SRTP and ALP Customer Relationships SOP’s



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Diploma in Social
    Sciences, Agriculture/ Agronomy, human resources or similar from a
    recognised Institute. Possession of Degree in Social Sciences or similar
    from a recognised Institute is desired
  • A minimum of six years’ experience in social
    Sciences, human resources and SRTP
  • Working knowledge of Agricultural Labour
    Practices
  • Competencies in statistics, analytical and
    figure-orientated
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in
    Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience in community-based
    programmes
  • Ability to build and maintaining customer
    relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage the
    key stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, organise and use own
    initiative
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and
    decision making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
    skills
