Job Summary: The Branch Control Manager will oversee compliance,
operational and reputational risks in the branches within the region in order
to reduce operational losses and improve procedural and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Quickly resolve premises, equipment,
furnishing and connectivity issues with Premises Unit, IT Department and
service providers as appropriate - Manage Service Level Agreements for service
providers (including but not limited to: maintenance of premises, generators, systems; servicing of air conditioners, all equipment; minor branch repair works; and tenancy agreements) for the region - Regularly monitor that branches in the region
have sufficient cash holdings for both vault and ATMs in all currencies - Address and resolve Minimum Branch Standards

3. Risk and Control:
- Proactively identify control deficiencies
both within the region and external sources and take necessary steps to
address them - Prepare and manage Regional budgets and
manage all operating costs and expenditure as per authorized budget - Carry out mini-audits in the branch to
ascertain control levels - Take steps to address control deficiencies
identified by Audit, Risk and Central Bank within agreed timelines - Identify changes in the pattern of losses,
analyze trends affecting the region and take the necessary steps to
prevent a recurrence - Carry out surprise checks on cash assets and
blank forms on a quarterly basis and where control break downs are evident - Set branch and ATM cash limits and address
any deviations - Monitor Branch Continuity Management plans
and close identified gaps - Provide monthly and quarterly reports to the
Regional Manager and other stakeholders on Branch operations activities
within the region - Review suspense accounts for accuracy for the
region and follows up on long
outstanding items (over 30 days) - Compile regional capital expenditure needs
and submit them to the Budgeting committee - Address risk areas in the Branch Risk Control
Self Assessment (RCSA) that are beyond the Branch’s control and resolves
identified gaps - Carry out preliminary investigations of
fraud/losses within the region as per laid down procedures - Investigate and resolve cash differences in
the ATM and Vault in accordance with laid down procedures - Carry out mini audits in the branches on a
quarterly basis or as need arises - Recommend process improvement areas including
deletion of obsolete policies and procedures to the Manager Procedures
4. People Management:
- Agree performance contracts for direct
reports and provide monthly performance feedback in order to maintain
performance at required levels - Provide coaching to branch staff where
required in bank processes, procedures and controls - Identify knowledge/skills gaps and work with
the Branch Manager and HR Business Partners to recommend appropriate
interventions - Agree performance contracts, monitor, review
and appraise operational control staff
in order to maintain performance at required levels - Conduct meetings with operational control
staff to communicate relevant information and obtain feedback on control
issues within the branches - Manage the handover process in accordance
with laid down procedure - Manage the on-boarding and probation process
for new and existing employees - Manage leave for direct reports against
quality customer service - Make talent recommendations to the Regional
Manager and the HRBP - Participate in the recruitment processes for
the Manager Branch Control and Branch Manager positions - A member of the Regional disciplinary
management committee
5. Other: May be
assigned to sit in for the Regional Manager or Line manager

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Stanbic Bank Branch Control Manager
should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies or a related field
from a recognized university. Possession of a Master’s degree in a
Business related field an added advantage - At least five to ten years’ experience in a
financial environment - Three years of supervisory or managerial
experience - Strong knowledge of the regulatory
environment governing financial services in Uganda - Strong knowledge of the Banks’ policies, procedures
and practices - Broad knowledge and understanding of the
branch network and interface between frontline service, responsive sales
and support functions - Working knowledge of transaction processes
relevant to products and services offered to customers - Working knowledge of the Bank’s operating
systems and controls - Good analytical skills
- Good decision making skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Good people management skills
- Good conflict resolution skills
