Job Summary: The Maternal New Born and Child Health (MNCH)
Specialist will provide subject matter expertise on nutrition in health and
WASH programming in line with WVU NO strategy and the health and nutrition
technical program 2016 – 2020 with specific focus on sub-objective 2 (Access to
and Utilization of essential RMNCH services). The incumbent will also provide technical
support and capacity building for staff and partners in the WVU health and
nutrition sector and to network with various stakeholders in order to achieve
the WVU strategic objective of improved health and nutrition of children under
five and women of reproductive age.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer technical support provided during the
    design, implementation and evaluation of RMNCAH projects and AP RMNCAH
    programs.
  • Oversee the development of concepts and
    proposals to mobilize resources for RMNCAH interventions. Ensure technical
    soundness and integration of evidence based practice in proposal documents
  • Capacity of staff and implementing partners
    in the use of evidence based technical models and methods for program
    implementation and monitoring developed with emphasis on timed and
    targeted counseling, Channels of Hope, Parent Support groups, Citizen
    Voice and Action (CVA), ICCM and the expanded prevention model.
  • Relevant networks, advocacy coalitions and
    policy forums established/ engaged with to inform and influence from WVU’s
    experience and to enhance organizational learning
  • Needs assessments, surveys and researches
    related to RMNCAH programming facilitated
  • Provide technical support provided during
    strategy development for new or long-term or additional interventions
  • Prepare guidelines and tools for design,
    implementation and monitoring of RMNCAH interventions including training
    materials and appropriate IEC materials for use in Behavior Change
    Communication designed, acquired or adapted and disseminated to assist in
    achieving the goals and objectives of national health and nutrition
    technical program
  • In charge of the implementation of RMNCAH
    interventions closely monitored to ensure adherence to WHO standards,
    National policy guidelines and WVU strategic direction
  • Robust internal linkages with other
    sub-sectors/sectors including WASH, Food Security, Child Protection and
    Disaster Risk Reduction strengthened so as to foster:
  • Integration in planning and implementation of
    field based programs and projects
  • Integrated responses to emergencies and
    disasters
  • Ensure routine reports are compiled and
    submitted to the Technical Program Manager – Health on monthly, quarterly
    and annual basis and ad hoc updates on RMNCAH provided as and when
    requested
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The prospective World Vision Maternal New
    Born Child Health (MNCH Specialist) employee should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in a health related discipline such as community health, medicine,
    nursing or nutrition. Possession of a master’s degree in reproductive
    health or demography is an added advantage.
  • Trainers of Trainers qualifications in ttC,
    CoH-MNCH, ICCM, adolescent friendly services and training in reproductive
    health in emergencies would be an added advantage.
  • At least three years of previous experience in implementing Maternal
    and Child related interventions within health programs of large NGOs
  • Excellent facilitation and verbal
    communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with ability to write
    technical reports, concepts and proposals.
  • The incumbent should be able to live by the
    World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life
    that is an example to others.
