Job Summary: The Behavior Change and Training-of-Trainers
Specialist will serve as the subject
matter expert on behavior change, helping to develop new program strategies and
curriculum, as well as train staff to successfully deliver the new strategies
for health and hygiene promotion. This is an exciting opportunity for an
ambitious professional with behavior change expertise to play a lead role in
the program design and staff training for several innovative new projects. The
incumbent will provide technical support in developing culturally-appropriate
and harmonized social behavior change communication (SBCC) and community
engagement strategies. The jobholder
will also take lead in the development of information, education and
communication (IEC) materials to implement these strategies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of developing and coordinating a
training program for TWT Community Development Officers - Providing technical support in the
implementation of TWT’s social program - Carrying out regular field monitoring visits
to assess progress and identify technical problems and/or implementation
issues, recommend solutions, and implement modifications as required. - Provide expertise in social science methods
to set up and implement monitoring and evaluation of SBCC and community
engagement strategies, identifying successes and setbacks, documenting
lessons learned, and contributing substantively to program design
discussions. - Collect information within and outside the
organization that will be used in communicating news, lessons learned,
best practices, and research findings to relevant audiences. - Assist in technical reporting and sharing
lessons learned with donors and other relevant partners. - Liaise, coordinate, and share information
with national NGOs, international organizations, donors, and government
officials. - Ensure timely and effective communication
within the organization and with stakeholders at all level
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in Social
Sciences, Behavior Change, Behavioral Science, Communications, Public
Health or related field. - A minimum of three to five years of professional
experience with NGOs. - Demonstrated success designing, implementing
and evaluating SBBC strategies and leading teams in public awareness
raising campaigns. - Strong knowledge of applied learning
techniques, curriculum design, and facilitation for both
training-of-trainers and end users. - Working knowledge of government standards.
- Previous experience or knowledge of various
social behavior change and community based/managed approaches, such as the
Participatory Risk and Vulnerabilities Community Assessment, Children’s
Hygiene and Sanitation Training, and Village Savings and Loan Association
methodologies. - Works well in and promotes teamwork,
comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle
pressure well. - Self motivated, honest, highly responsible,
and punctual - Ability to work as part of a team as well as
to work autonomously when required - Confident communicator, able to command
respect from a wide range of people - Fluent in English.
- Computer literacy skills with proficiency in
MS Word, Excel. - Strong organizational, problem solving, and
planning skills with excellent attention to detail. - Service oriented, customer focused approach.
- In possession of a valid riding/driving
permit. - Ability to speak local languages in the
project area. - Working experience with an international NGO.
- Previous experience working in Masindi and/or
Kiryandongo is desired
