Job Title:    Factory Technician / Welder

Kampala, Uganda

company operating within Uganda that manufactures and distributes ceramic water
filters with a vision of providing access to clean and safe drinking water for
all Ugandans.

 

Job Summary:  The Factory Technician / Welder will be
responsible for all welding and fabrication activities at SPOUT’s factory while
meeting all standards for safety, quality and efficiency. They shall also
perform repairs and maintenance of factory machines and equipment to enable
increased efficiency of the filter production.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Welding and
Fabrication:

·       
Handiclean:
To carry out all the required fabrication and welding activities on SPOUTS’s
hand washing facilities including the foot-Paddle system and any changes in
design from time to time.

·       
Filter
assembly parts: To carry out welding and fabrication activities on Purifaaya
assembly parts namely; XL stands, regular stands, Boda-Boda filter carrier and
others.

·       
Machinery
and Equipment: Carry out welding and fabrication activities during
installations, repairs and maintenance of a wide range of factory machines and
equipment. To mention but a few; Mills, Mixers, Hydraulic Press, racks, doors
and windows, guards, etc.

·       
And any
other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the relevant supervisor.

Repairs and
Maintenance of Machines and Equipment:

·       
Preventive
Maintenance: These are scheduled/planned maintenance program that involves
regularly cleaning and inspections, servicing, fixing abnormalities and keeping
a track record of individual machine and equipment.

·       
Break-down
Maintenance: Carry out time-sensitive break down repairs on factory machines
and equipment.

Research and
development:

·       
Help
with research and development work example in new product developments,
installation projects and continual improvement projects with Production machines
and equipment.

Demonstrate
corporate responsibility

·       
Ensure
that work practices comply with health and safety requirements

·       
Always
act in a manner consistent with SPOUTS’ values.

·       
Comply
with the SPOUTS’ standards of conduct and all applicable policies and
legislation.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant
must hold a diploma in mechanical/production/manufacturing
engineering/technology or Advanced certificate in welding & fabrication
and/or machine fittings.

·       
Experience
in working in a factory environment for 2-3 years.

·       
MUST
possess proven practical skills in welding and fabrication, SPECIFICALLY in arc
welding.

·       
Skills
and experiences in repairs and maintenance of industrial machines will be an
added advantage.

·       
Basic
computer literacy skills such as in MS package, use of internet (emails), etc
will be of value.

·       
Good
communication skills.

·       
Language
requirements: Competent in both written and spoken English language.
