recruit for a valuable client, an insurance brokering company in Uganda dealing
in general insurance, life, pension and medical schemes called Aon Uganda.
Job Summary: The Senior
Account Handler will work closely with the Life & Pension Manager or
Employee Benefits Manager to retain and service the existing and prospective
clients. The incumbent is the primary point of contact for clients and
contributes to the client life cycle (renewals, endorsements, reports etc). The
jobholder also applies company policies and procedures to deliver varied
technical and professional activities and to resolve issues that are generally
similar in nature.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Works in liaison with the Life &
    Pension Manager /Employee Benefits Manager to ensure high quality,
    efficient and compliant delivery of all client servicing activities in the
    department.
  • Keep track of client insurance renewals;
    Prepare renewal documents, quotes, closing instructions and proposal forms
    for clients and/or insurers are sent in time. Communicates with insurers
    on any negotiations and/or following requests from clients.
  • Ensure that risk management/loss
    control/insurance programmes are properly geared to cope with clients
    exposures
  • The incumbent will ensure timeliness of
    quotations, invoicing, policy document review, claim settlement, timely
    dispatch of documents to the client and reverting to Insurer for any
    adjustments or inclusion of omitted details.
  • Service clients on a day to day basis, and
    accompany his Manager for client’s visits.
  • Ensure completeness of underwriting files
    in the department.
  • Ensure timeliness of submission of RBS
    scheme reports to clients, obtaining Service provider reports, invoicing
    of Administration fees and timely collection of premium due.
  • Responsible for the processing of the Life
    claims in conjunction with the Life & Pension Manager. Also responsible
    for the calculation of Leavers RBS benefits and issuance of discharge
    forms with supervision from your Manager
  • Audit the life department underwriting
    files periodically and ensure audit findings/ recommendations are
    implemented.
  • Study and understand the industry standard
    products, be familiar with your allocated clients’ policy wordings and
    establish what options the various insurers can provide.
  • Support your Supervisor to Manage
    relationships with the RBS Service Providers/suppliers and Insurers.
  • Responsible for uploading and updating of
    client RBS data in the Pension Administration system as per the system
    guidelines/manual.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in a business related course (BSC Actuarial Science is
    preferred)
  • Additional training in Insurance is an
    added advantage (ANZIF/ CII)
  • Certification from the Uganda Insurance
    Institute
  • At least two years’ experience in a
    similar or related role
  • Individual with knowledge of principles
    and practices of Life Insurance and Pension sector.
  • Possesses advanced analytical and
    technical skills and abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal
    supervision, cope with high volumes of work and perform under pressure
  • Be efficient and produce accurate work
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational
    skills
  • Computer literacy skills with experience
    in MS Word, Excel & Power point
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Very good knowledge of Policy wordings
    (Life and Pensions)
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    applicable legislative environment that governs the pension sector in
    Uganda.
  • Have knowledge of insurance underwriting
    and claims administration–specifically in the Life and Pensions sector.
  • Have a high work ethic and must have the
    ability to function effectively under pressure
  • Be a team player, have the ability to
    build good relationships, support and actively participate in, and
    contribute to any team initiatives
  • Be dependable and respect confidentiality
