About US:
The Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) is the training arm of the
Insurance Industry in Uganda. It is also the representative insurance
professional body under the Law. IIU is licensed by the National Council for
Higher Education (NCHE) as a private tertiary institution.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Manage the development and implementation
    of an IT strategic plan.
  • The IT Officer will ensure that all the
    Institute software is licensed, keep record of licenses and undertake the
    renewal process in cases of expiry.
  • Manage the network maintenance
  • Configure new workstations, laptops and
    other ICT related equipment.
  • Routinely interface with all other departments
    and clients online
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot
    laptops, printers and copiers as well as managing their toner requests.
  • Set-up and support visual and audio
    equipment for training and other presentations.
  • Ensure the security of data from internal
    and external attack, providing users with support and advice.
  • Recommend hardware and software
    acquisition, operating systems upgrades and information materials for the
    setup of a fully-fledged modern information centre
  • Carry out full system backup, virus checks,
    removal and antivirus update
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by
    the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or any
    other related qualification with an IT certification from a recognized
    Institution.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a
    similar field.
  • Ability to establish and maintain
    effective working relations with people of different backgrounds.
  • Impeccable level of integrity
  • Effective written, oral and presentation
    skills.
  • Ability to identify key issues and
    problems from complex situations
  • Willingness to work long hours and over
    the weekends.
  • Good team player
