with families in need. Habitat for Humanity has an Administrative Headquarters
based in Atlanta, an Operational Headquarters based in Americus, Georgia, and
Area Office bases of operations in Manilla, Philippines for our Asia and
Pacific work, San Jose, Costa Rica for our Latin American and Caribbean work
and Bratislava, Slovakia for our Europe, the Middle East and Africa work.
Job Summary: The Donor
Engagement & Communications Officer assists with communications efforts of
Habitat for Humanity Uganda (including Marketing, Advertising and Public
Relations). The person will assist in various projects and events for any
and/or all of the HFHU initiatives and the resource development department. The
incumbent will maintain HFH brand in the market.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The jobholder provides support in Report
    Writing
  • Formulate effective strategies to enhance
    HFH brand in Uganda, cultivate new communications partnerships.
  • The jobholder provides support in Proposal
    Writing
  • Prepare client profiles and stories
  • Prepare other communications materials as
    needed
  • Update and maintain donor database
  • Maintain photograph library and assisting
    in video opportunities
  • Preparing content to be placed on the HFH
    websites
  • Work closely with the IT officer ensure
    the organization website is updated on a regular basis and all other
    social media sites are active.
  • Work in liaison with the management team
    ensure mechanisms are in place to enhance HFHU’s image with foundations,
    corporate organizations and associations.
  • Analyze and report on communication impact
  • Actively participate in the strategic
    planning process for HFH Uganda to Communications/PR needs
  • Assist in writing press releases,
    e-newsletters, communication plans and letters
  • Designing flyers, graphics, invites and
    other marketing material for major events hosted by HFHU
  • Reach out to the community organizations,
    general public and donors with the message about Habitat for Humanity’s
    mission to end poverty housing.
  • Collaborating with staff on new ideas,
    directions, and venues for marketing and communications
  • working with media professionals to
    initiate or follow-up with outreach attempts
  • Working with programs to develop story
    ideas for the media
  • Other projects within the realm of
    communications.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably be a
    graduate of Mass Communications, or Public Relations or any other related
    field
  • At least three years of related work
    experience in a similar position preferably in an NGO
  • Previous related experience in marketing
    or communications is a plus preferably in a non-governmental organization.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    available tools and platforms in communications arena
  • Knowledgeable in proposal writing
  • Computer literate (working knowledge of
    word processing, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • An effective communicator, both written
    and oral
  • Ability to communicate in a professional
    manner with press and community contacts
  • Self-motivated, good organizational
    skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet
    deadlines
  • Experience in dealing with the media
    fraternity.

    Humanity and the families we serve
