Job Summary: The Malaria
Officer will verify all voucher claims submitted by Voucher Service Providers
to support the timely reimbursement of voucher services. Claims Officer is expected
to assess the validity of claims from a broader medical perspective and
identify claims with inconsistencies between sound medical practice and
services delivered. Work closely with the MCH manager to ensure smooth piloting
of the MCH voucher scheme.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Provide an oversight role of the
implementation of the Malaria programme in consultation with the managers
of Maternal Child Health manager, the Health systems manager - Work closely with the Clinical and Quality
Assurance Officers (CQAOs) in the establishment of the integrated model to
strengthen malaria services in the private clinics and at the community
level. - Build the capacity of the service
providers in the management of child hood illnesses using the IMCI model
of assessment and treatment. - Build the capacity of the service
providers in the private clinics to provide quality malaria control
services - Identify and strengthen capacity of drug
shops with information on detection of malaria using mRDT and management
of uncomplicated malaria using ACTs. - Work in liaison with the regional teams
and district health team in strengthening the capacity of the VHTs/Good
Life Promoters in the active case identification and referral through
routine screening of children under 5s. - Work closely with stakeholders in the
Malaria, Technical Working groups and other implementing partners in
Malaria and build new synergies in the programing. - Support malaria commodities delivery for
malaria control at GLCs and drug shops and track them to avoid stock outs. - Work with Ministry of Health departments
of Malaria in developing SOPs to guide the implementation of malaria and
Nutrition services in the private facilities and drug shops. - Support programmatic reviews to assess
progress, share successful evidence based intervention, and recommend
strategies in line with UHMG strategic plan. - Ensure that GLPs are supported to carry
out awareness messages on Malaria during the Implementing partner’s
session. - Work in liaison with the regional CQAOs to
review facility based performance in Malaria activities. - Provide regular on job mentorship of
health workers on Malaria interventions. - Provide support to franchise clinics in
the implementation of quality improvement projects in malaria. - Provide technical support in the
development and dissemination of IEC material related to Malaria case
management and the management of Acute and severe malnutrition.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the UHMG Malaria
Officer vacancy should hold a degree in Medicine, Public health, Health
Services, Nursing, Nutrition or equivalent qualification; - Specific training in the prevention and
treatment of malnutrition and in malaria case management; - A minimum of five years’ experience of
managing malaria and nutrition projects in an NGO; - Conversant with the CMAM model of
management of malnutrition especially in the private sector; - Prior exposure and experience working with
a social marketing organization and with experience implementing the Total
market approach; - Previous experience in behavior change
communication approaches; - Ability to conceptualize issues and
document findings; - Strong staff management, capacity building
and supervision skills.
