About USAID CHC Project:
Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five- year program
implemented through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency
for International Development USAID/Uganda) and FHI 360. The project is
designed to support the Government of Uganda and partners to design and
implement quality health communication interventions to contribute to reduction
in HIV Infections, total fertility, maternal & child mortality,
malnutrition, malaria & tuberculosis.
Job Summary: The Chief of
Party will provide overall strategic leadership and oversight to the CHC project.
The ideal candidate should exhibit an appropriate balance of technical,
managerial, and interpersonal skills and experience. The incumbent should have
a deep understanding of Communication for Healthy Communities program goals and
objectives and be able to articulate the strategic vision for the program.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Ensure an integrated vision for the
    project, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract and
    work plan.
  • Oversee the successful achievement of the
    entire project, objectives, deliverables, and impact.
  • Serve as the key liaison between
    USAID/Uganda and all other counterparts, implementing partners and
    Government of Uganda officials involved with the project.
  • Oversee all project-to-USAID communication,
    contract reporting and work planning.
  • Supervises technical and
    finance/administration teams.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree
    or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences or equivalent field
  • At least ten years of progressively
    increasing responsibility working in public health in the fields of health
    communication, promotion and/or education
  • Previous exposure and experience in
    interacting with host country agencies including central and local
    government, development partners, civil society and community based
    organisations is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in working
    collaboratively with donors, host country institutions, and international
    organizations.
  • Demonstrated management experience leading
    large USAID-funded projects.
  • Broad knowledge, understanding and
    appreciation of USAID project processes, procedures, rules and
    regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and
    oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Relevant field experience in Uganda or
    similar setting with significant management responsibility, including
    supervisory and team building experience of professional (technical
    staff).
  • Excellent past performance references

  • Ability to work independently with
    initiative to manage high volume work flow.
