About US:
Yunus Social Business Foundation Uganda Ltd. (YSB Uganda) incubates and
finances social businesses in all regions of Uganda. We provide coaching and
consulting to social business entrepreneurs, help to create and develop
employment-generating social businesses, and finance these businesses in order
to help them scale their operations. YSB was founded by Nobel Peace Laureate
Muhammad Yunus and is part of the Grameen network of over 40 social businesses
and more than 50,000 employees. In addition to Uganda, Yunus Social Business
entities are operational in the Balkans, Brazil, Columbia, India, Haiti and
Tunisia; with a team of over 40 people in the 7 country offices and a central
office in Frankfurt, Germany. The Uganda office is based in Kampala. A social
business is a new kind of organization that combines the strengths of both
civil society and the business world. Social businesses have a social or
environmental mission – like NGOs – but are financially self-sustainable – like
businesses. Social business is a combination of social action with
entrepreneurship and market discipline. The many Grameen success stories in
Bangladesh and elsewhere demonstrate that social businesses can be powerful
tools to unlock economic potential, create employment and self-employment, help
solve social problems and reduce poverty in a sustainable way. Uganda has been
selected by Prof. Yunus as one of the priority countries for social business
promotion.
Job Summary: The
Communication & Partnerships Manager will provide support to Yunus Social
Business Uganda in building a strong YSB brand presence and relationships in
the social entrepreneurship space.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Tasked with developing and executing the
    organization’s communications strategy, budget and plans
  • Communications
  • Coordinate the team’s outreach to
    potential partners
  • Build a strong presence of YSB in the
    social impact space particularly through an active website, online
    channels and social media
  • Handle press relations
  • Investor and Partner relations
  • Steer the planning and implementation of
    YSB’s events, including design of marketing collateral and coordination
    with partners
  • Prepare investor briefs and reports
  • Supporting fund raising activities on a
    local level, such as drafting of investor and partnership proposals
  • Production, publication and dissemination
    of reports and documentaries e.g. quarterly and annual reports, documentaries
    on events etc.
  • Providing training and coaching to social
    businesses during accelerator programs or as part of post-investment
    services, in areas of communication, networking etc.
  • Any other activities assigned by the
    Managing Director dealing with the day-to-day or long-term business
    continuity and serving the purpose of advancing the Yunus Social Business
    Uganda
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a
    post-graduate qualification in communication, international relations,
    marketing or related field
  • The applicant should have three years of
    post-graduation experience in one of the following sectors: Corporate
    communication, Building partnerships, International relations, Fundraising
  • Exhibit commitment to serving society’s
    needs and a high level of personal integrity;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    “social business” and how this is related to other concepts, e.g. social
    innovation, social entrepreneurship, inclusive business, and impact
    investing
  • Superior communication, presentation,
    project management and time management skills
  • Multi-tasked; demonstrated leadership,
    management and organizational skills; personal initiative and
    responsibility
  • Strong cultural understanding and skills
    to manage differences
  • Diplomacy, negotiating skills and
    team-working skills
  • Willingness to travel outside of Kampala,
    including to rural areas
  • Fluent in English
