About Us:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries established
an Agricultural Investment Unit under the Department of Agricultural Investment
and Enterprise Development. The major objective of the Unit is to assist in
coordinating and promoting agribusiness, with emphasis on value addition and
act as an initiative to link and create synergies between MAAIF (Public Policy
/ Regulation), the Private Sector and Development Partners on issues of
promoting agribusiness and value addition.
Job Summary: The Programme
Officer – Technical Services will support the Senior Programme Officer –
Technical Services in coordinating and implementing policies, strategies and
plans for promotion of agribusiness value addition and access to agricultural
credit.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Updating and keeping inventory of all
    agribusiness enterprises in the country, including projects implemented by
    other Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Private Sector and Development
    Partners.
  • Offering technical support to all MAAIF,
    Private Sector and Development Partners projects with value addition
    initiatives.
  • Tasked with creating awareness about agricultural
    credit facilities available to the Private Sector.
  • Supporting SMEs and farmers in formulating
    project proposals to access agricultural credit facilities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    the Senior Programme Officer – Technical Services.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Senior Programme
    Officer – Technical Services job opportunity should hold an Honors
    Bachelors’ Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agri-business
    Management from a recognized University/Institution;
  • Possession of a Post Graduate
    Qualification in Agricultural Economics or related discipline from a
    recognized University/Institution will be an added advantage
  • One year of working experience as Program
    Assistant in the area of agribusiness value addition or agricultural
    credit in Government or at a similar level in a reputable organization
  • Previous experience in rural financing /
    banking is desired
  • Good Managerial, Organizing and coordinating skills
  • Good
    leadership, managerial and planning skills;
  • Strategic
    Thinking;
  • Knowledge
    generation and management skills;
  • Good
    presentation and Report Writing;
  • Good
    interpersonal and team work;
  • Skills
    in policy formulation, Planning, Organizing and coordinating
  • Excellent
    Research and analytical skills;
  • Highly
    proactive with the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent
    communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Computer
    literacy and be proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Good
    project proposal writing skills;
  • Financial
    management and budgeting skills
