Job Summary: The Laboratory
Technician will provide support to the Science Department at Kampala
International School Uganda (KISU).
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Work in liaison with teachers and students to provide
    technical support
  • Tasked with preparing equipment for
    experiments and clearing away all equipment after the lesson
  • Preparing solutions accurately
  • Preparing equipment for assessments and
    clearing away all equipment
  • Providing support to teachers in practical
    lessons as required
  • Ensure the safe and proper maintenance and
    servicing of laboratory equipment
  • Keeping up-to-date inventory of equipment
  • Placing orders, monitoring them and
    updating teachers
  • Guiding teachers on equipment which needs
    to be re-ordered
  • Trialling practical activities
  • Ensuring the highest standards of health
    and safety rules are followed
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a
    Bachelor/Diploma Degree in the
    Science
  • A-Levels (Or an equivalent qualification)
    in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Resilient when working under pressure
  • Resourceful and pro-active
  • Highly trustworthy
  • Committed and motivated
  • Meticulous
  • Strong practical and organisational skills
  • Comfortable with all of the apparatus and
    chemicals used in the laboratory
  • Excellent knowledge of how all science
    equipment and materials can be used safely
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
    skills
  • Broad awareness and sympathy towards the
    needs of 11-19 year olds.
