Registration Officer
Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210, Laws
of Uganda 2000 Edition. The Bureau is a key player in commercial and civil
registrations that facilitate private sector development and vital statistics
for national planning.
Officer – Directorate of Civil Registration will ensure that all the statutory
functions of civil registration services are delivered correctly, efficiently
and effectively to a high standard.
Responsibilities:
- Registers marriages/civil events in
accordance with the statutory regulations and registration policy
guidelines - Ensures safe custody of all registers and
to ensure the appropriate indices are created and maintained. - Attests notices of marriage/civil
partnerships under the relevant Acts and ensures they are passed to the
Senior Registration officer to be recorded as appropriate and correctly
displayed - Receives
applications, conducts searches and
ensures applications and supporting documentation relating
to notices of marriage is checked and certificates and licences authorising
marriages to proceed are correctly issued - Conducts marriage ceremonies and
undertakes civil partnerships as necessary at the Register’s office and
other premises, including approved premises. - The jobholder also processes and issues
out single status letters and registers Muslim divorces. - Ensures the establishment and maintenance
of effective office procedures and ensures members of the public are dealt
with in a customer caring efficient and helpful manner. - Manages the assessment and collection of
non tax revenue accruing from civil registrations - Provides support in the processing
licences and undertakes initial inspection, keeps, updates and maintains a
Register of approved venues to ensure suitability of areas for performing
Civil marriages/partnerships and

interested parties. - Sensitises duty bearers on their roles and
responsibilities to comply with statutory responsibilities - Ensures that all legal requirements
regarding marriages and civil partnership are completed in compliance with
the relevant statutory requirements, - Updates and maintains records of all civil
events and prepares reports on a regular basis for the Senior Registration
Officer regarding performance of the registry. - Performs any other duties that may be
assigned from time to time by the Senior Registration Officer.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda
Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Director Business Registration career
placement must hold an Honours degree in law or Social Sciences or other
related discipline. - Broad knowledge of relevant legislation
relating to registration duties. - Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills - Computer software application skills
- Ability to liaise and network with other
stakeholders. - Ability to work in a team.
