About FOWODE:
Forum for Women in Democracy is a non-partisan women’s rights
organization operating in Uganda with its head office in Kampala. FOWODE grew
out of the Women’s Caucus of the 1994 – 1995 Constituency Assembly (CA) that
debated and passed the 1995 Constitution. The organization’s mission is to promote
gender equality in all areas of decision making through Capacity Development,
Community Empowerment, Policy Engagement and Strategic Partnerships.
Job Summary: The Program
Director of the Women and Leadership Program will ensure that the program remains
highly visible and current at the national and local level. In addition, the
role requires the Director to be able to fundraise and build partnerships for
the program.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Provide strategic direction to the program
  • The incumbent will identify fundraising
    opportunities for the program and together with the team raise funds for
    the program
  • Actively participate in monitoring and
    evaluation of the programme activities and take appropriate steps to
    ensure that the programme achieves satisfactory results.
  • Identify innovations to propel the program
    and ensure that it remains current and relevant
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships
    for the program in particular and the organization in general
  • Ensure the timely development and
    submission of program narrative reports
  • Supervise the program officers working in
    the program
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree and /or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law or Development Studies
    from a recognized University
  • A Diploma or Certificate in program
    planning and management will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of three years of working
    experience in a Non-governmental organization
  • At least two years’ experience in program
    management
  • Good strategic planning and management
    skills
  • Policy analysis, research and advocacy
    skills and experience
  • Previous experience in fundraising
  • Clear thinking with conceptual and
    analytical skills
  • Computer literacy skills with proficiency
    in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point
  • Good knowledge and appreciation of women’s
    rights and gender
