Job Summary: The Marketing
and Communications Officer will directly contribute to growing British Council
Uganda’s operation, building positive perceptions of the UK and the British
Council as a leading global cultural relations organisation. The incumbent will
support the British Council in the implementation of the marketing and
communications strategy across a range of media channels (including social
media), telling a compelling story of our offer and the impact of our work
across the programme portfolio, raising the profile and strengthening brand
visibility to existing and new audiences in Uganda. S/he will demonstrate an understanding of
Uganda’s operating context, the organisation’s aims, stakeholders and target
audiences. The Marketing and Communications role works closely with all
programme teams to deliver the British Council’s marketing and communications
strategy.

Marketing & Communications:
- Working in liaison with the programme
teams, regional digital & communications teams and relevant corporate
teams to deliver Uganda’s Marketing & Communications plan. - Working with the regional digital team,
contribute to designing digital marketing campaigns, create content for
the different strategic business units (Education & Society, Exams and
the Arts) for use on websites, social media, e-mail marketing and in
digital campaigns. - Work in close collaboration with programme
teams, engage with internal and external audiences, writing stories and
sharing information about British Council Uganda’s UK exams and programmes
portfolio in Education, Society, English & the Arts through all
relevant media, website, blogs and social networking. - Collect and report on external engagement
statistics as part of our Results and Evidence Framework to facilitate
business development, product and brand positioning . - Develop and maintain Marcomms asset bank
including images, videography, impact data and stories. - Send monthly progress reports to line
manager.
Branding & Promotion:
- Render support in developing and executing
promotional initiatives to increase visibility of the British Council
Uganda’s UK exams and programmes portfolio in Education, Society, English
& the Arts in the market; boosting the uptake of UK qualifications and
examinations and positioning British Council as a leading examination
service provider and partner of choice within the market. - Steer the Country’s Brand Champion and
custodian of brand standards across all channels of engagement, including
digital and print. - Across all activities, manage brand
guidelines to ensure all vendors and internal customers follow corporate
standards.
Sourcing of Good and Services, Supplier Management:
- Work in liaison with programme managers to
procure marketing & communications services from external suppliers in
support of projects, and events. - Provide support to the programme managers
to commission high quality and creative photography and videography which
captures the essence and impact of our work.
Continuous Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional
development to ensure that knowledge, networks and expertise are kept
updated. - Share skills and knowledge with programme
teams as a way of up skilling teams in aspects of basic marketing and
communications.

- The applicant for the British Council
Marketing and Communications Officer job placement should possess a Bachelor’s
Degree in a related field - Proven experience in marketing,
communications and brand development/management - Proactive and demonstrable ability to work
with minimum supervision
