(NGO) offering Comprehensive HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research &
General Medical Services; also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale
up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary: The Public
Health Specialist will offer technical leadership for the development and
management of a robust mechanism for organizational learning including
documentation and dissemination of Mildmay Uganda’s programming lessons, best
practices, and related scientific evidence, to inform policy, training and
practice for integrated prevention, care and treatment of HIV and emerging
health priorities.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Mildmay Public
    Health Specialist career opportunity must hold a Masters degree in Public
    Health or Epidemiology with a first degree in Social Sciences; Medicine or
    any health related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in
    coordinating operations/ implementation science interventions
  • Significant experience in a strategic
    management role translation of corporate goals and objectives into
    practical outcomes
  • Technical proficiency in design,
    implementation, and conduct of public health evaluations , documentation
    of best practices for similar projects/programs
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of
    Ethical procedures related to protection of human subjects
  • Proven skills in leading development of
    responsive implementation science grant applications
  • Effective Coordination of Implementation
    Science interventions and management of related grants
  • Demonstrable multi-stakeholder
    coordination skills
  • Dynamic systems thinking, high taste for
    innovation, and continuous quality improvement
  • Strong leadership, analytical and
    organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written)
    skills,
  • Good teaching/presentation skills;
  • Highly analytical and good decision making
    skills;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in various MS office packages.
  • Show commitment to quality and excellence,
    and holding the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Highly flexible and reliable
  • Evidence of a non-judgemental approach
