• Participate in regular RMNCH coordination
  and planning meetings with RHITES IP cluster, and district program
  officers; as well as district health officials and other child health
  partners.
• Work with RHITES IP cluster and District
  focal persons, District Health Teams, MCSP Child Health ME&L Advisor,
  MCSP Child Health Advisor, and other partners to develop and fine-tune
  district,
• Annual and quarterly micro-plans with
  their budget for roll out and routine implementation of the essential
  child health package.
• Work closely with RHITES IP cluster and
  District focal persons, District Health Teams, MCSP Child Health ME&L
  Advisor, MCSP Child Health Advisor, district health teams, local governments,
  and other partners in selected districts to:
• Implement sustainable
  capacity building strategies for health workers.
• Implement sustainable
  community approaches to problem solving, quality improvement, and
  sustaining the implementation of the        
  essential child health package.
• Send periodic feedback on
  implementation of the essential child health package to the relevant
  partners at district and regional level.
• Support the building of
  strong linkages between the health system, traditional leaders, community
  volunteers and other groups.
• Conduct child health service
  delivery assessments and related interventions as needed.
• Collect and use child health
  service delivery data to inform decision making.
• Coordinate with the country team in
  following up the work of technical consultants when that work is performed
  at district level.
• Actively participate in district review
  meetings.
• Maintain open and productive
  communications and working relationships with all partners.
• Contribute to writing progress reports for
  RHITES IP and USAID, as needed.
• The jobholder will manage program funds
  according to JSI policies and procedures and USAID rules and regulations.
• Perform any other duties as may be
  assigned by his/her supervisor.

• The applicants for the USAID MCSP Child
  Health Officer (CHO) job opportunity must hold degrees in medicine,
  nursing, public health or its equivalent or Senior Registered
  Nurse/Midwife/Senior Clinical Officer with at least 10 years of experience
  implementing child health programs at district level.
• Broad knowledge and experience as a
  trainer for Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness
  (IMNCI); Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT); and/or Routine
  Immunisation using Reaching Every Child using Quality Improvement
  approaches (REC-QI) is a plus.
• At least five years’ experience in health
  systems strengthening management, especially in the context of child
  health issues and programs.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations for
  USAID is a plus.
• Excellent facilitation skills, including
  experience in leading training and capacity building efforts; proven
  experience in coaching/mentoring and use of adult learning techniques to
  build the capacity of health workers.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of
  government and traditional structures and the ability to work within these
  structures.
• Advanced writing and computer skills for
  documenting program activities.
• English fluency in reading, writing, and
  speaking.
• Ability to prioritize work effectively and
  manage a demanding work environment.
• Excellent computer skills.
• This job requires proficiency in the
  English language (both written and spoken)
• Competency in the local language spoken in
  the respective districts of location will be of added advantage.
• Willingness to work in selected districts.
