Job Summary: The Child
Protection in Emergency Officer will support in providing Child Protection in
Emergency & WASH services for increased access to life saving protection
services for children, adolescent girls and women in South Sudan Refugee crisis
in West Nile Region. The incumbent will mainly be responsible for planning,
implementing, monitoring and providing an oversight technical support to
community social workers and community based child protection structures in the
delivery of child protection services to refugee girls, boys and community in
the targeted refugee settlements. S/he will be line managed by the Child
Protection in Emergency Specialist, to provide direction and technical support
on all issues related to programming, reporting.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder coordinates, prepares and
implements project work plans on a monthly basis in accordance with the
project document. - Builds capacity of community
volunteers/incentive workers and community based child protection
structures to deliver quality protection and psychosocial services. - Performs project monitoring in line with
detailed implementation plan. - Actively participates in external
coordination forums, such as Child Protection Working Group and other
relevant coordination meetings. - Works in liaison with other humanitarian
and government stakeholders like DRC /LWF, Uganda Red Cross Society (URS),
UNHCR, UNICEF and Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in identifying,
tracing and supporting vulnerable children like Unaccompanied Minors
(UAMs), Separated Children (SC) and children with disabilities. - Provides leadership and facilitates
teamwork among Community Social Workers and Community based child
protection structures in the delivery of protection and psychosocial
services for refugee children. - The incumbent organises and facilitates
periodic planning and review meetings with community social workers and
community based child protection structures. - Coordinates and participates in assessment
and documentation activities at the settlement levels. - Prepares and submits timely periodic
situational, progressive, field based and donor reports on child
protection interventions. - Promotes and demonstrates Plan
International’s Child Protection Policy in all his or her work.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Plan
International Child Protection in Emergency Officer job opportunity should
hold a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration
or Education. - At least two years of professional
humanitarian experience. - Previous exposure and experience in
community development or with NGO. - Experience of implementing and/or managing
programmes for children 0-5; - Previous experience of managing projects,
including project design, monitoring and evaluation (i.e. preparation of
documents and reports for external dissemination). - Prior experience of and demonstrated
ability to effectively network with a diverse range of organisations and
government bodies - Experience of working with refugee
communities - Excellent writing, facilitation, and
organisational skills. Prior demonstrated results within the UN system or
INGO is an asset. . - Excellent command of the English language.
- Strong drive for results and ensuring
timely delivery of quality products. - Knowledge on tackling inequality and
exclusion - Ability to ride a motorcycle
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
programs including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point. - Strong skills in teamwork and networking.
- Excellent communication skills (written
and oral). - Excellent skills in documentation and
report writing - Excellent negotiation and influencing
skills in multi-cultural contexts - Ability to generate and interpret
financial reports using excel - Show empathy and positive attitude towards
children ages 0-5, their caregivers, and other stakeholders;
