About Project:
MJAP will work in close collaboration with the Rakai Health Sciences
Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control
in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In
addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS
Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for
AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Job Summary: The Voluntary
Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC) Coordinator will support the districts in
developing and implementing strategies for circumcision of eligible males, with
the aim of reducing the risk of HIV infection; and improve on the reporting of
data in accordance with the MOH (Ministry of Health) guidelines.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Support the District Health Teams to
develop strategies for the adoption and implementation of VMMC Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPS) - Work in close collaboration with the DHTs
take lead in developing the district VMMC work plans and budgets and
implement strategies for integration into the district services - Support the DHTs to ensure compliance with
the MOH and PEPFAR guidelines on VMMC - Work in liaison with the DHTs, take lead
in planning and conducting of Training and/ retraining for trainers (ToT),
for the VMMC Service providers in the supported districts. - Ensure monthly, quarterly semi-annual
& annual targets are achieved; and prepare periodic progress reports
for submission to the Project Director and relevant stakeholders. - The jobholder will document procedures,
complications and challenges associated with male circumcision and ensure
appropriate follow up in case of complications in line with MOH
guidelines. - Ensure adequate availability and
accountability of supplies and other logistics for VMMC service delivery. - Work in close collaboration with M &E
teams, set up CQI teams to conduct support supervision in the region - Actively participate in VMMC IP, SMT
regionalization meetings and other relevant fora.

- The ideal candidate for the Makerere
University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision
(VMMC) Coordinator should preferably hold a Masters’ degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, MSc or related
field. - The
applicant must also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Health
sciences - Additional
training in the relevant discipline of Humanities is added advantage. - A
minimum of three years’ experience in managing VMMC programs or related
health donor funded programs. - Broad
knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and
care service delivery programs - Good
training skills - Excellent
interpersonal skills - Patient
counselling and negotiation skills - Analytical
and problem solving skills - Ability
to work with district health teams in a rural setting - Good
computer skills
