About Kindernothilfe:
Kindernothilfe Germany has been supporting the promotion of Self- help
Groups Approach in Uganda through the host of the Self Help Groups National
Coordination Office by PKF Uganda. The Self Help Group Approach is Right Based
Approach, which views poverty as the denial of rights and poverty alleviation
as a process of reclaiming one’s rights. Given the multi-dimensional nature of
poverty, the Self Help Groups Approach puts equal emphasis on economic, social
and political empowerment of the poorest of the poor. It offers a framework and
guidance for establishing a ‘People’s Institution’ which provides an
environment of trust and cooperation in which people come to realize that they
are able to help themselves to achieve the economic, social and political
empowerment.
Job Summary: The Assistant
National Coordinator is primarily responsible for the Documentation and
Compliance based in Kampala with frequent travels up country while reporting to
the Self Help Group National Coordinator.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Offers support in planning and budget for
    Coordination office, assessment and appraisal of partner project proposals
    and budgets with Self Help Group Component.
  • Conduct monitoring and back stopping
    including assessment of Partner performance, community facilitators and
    strength of People’s Institutions
  • Participates in production of numerous
    reports: Activity, quarterly, biannual and annual (narrative and
    financial), consolidation of reports from Promoting Organizations.
  • Oversee the documentation of progress,
    processes and outcomes of SHGA in collaboration with the National
    Coordinator
  • Act as the focal person in ensuring
    compliance at all levels in a collaborative effort with the National
    Coordinator
  • Organize technical support workshops for
    promoting organizations and continuously appraise the needs promoting
    organizations and People’s institutions
  • Offer support in the establishment of
    networks with similar organizations for resources and championing
    advocacy.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a University Degree in Social work and Social Administration, Education,
    studies, Arts with bias in Literature and English or Social Sciences.
  • A minimum of five experience of working in
    a community development and pro poor environment
  • Previous exposure and experience in civil
    society work (grassroots and national with particular focus on Children,
    youth and women)
  • Previous experience in use and application
    of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRAS) tools
  • Excellent writing skills and an ability to
    write creatively for different audiences in more than one languages.
  • Strong conceptual ability and
    understanding of a Project cycle and its relationships with organizational
    wide programs.
  • Result-oriented with proven record of
    accomplishment of meeting targets and deadlines.
  • Previous experience in coordination,
    liaison and partnership management
  • Keen and committed in protecting Children
    and vulnerable adults especially women from abuse and exploitation.
  • Highly business-oriented with high desire
    to impart knowledge and foster learning.
  • Demonstrable computer literacy skills at
    minimum Internet applications, power Pont MS word and Excel.
  • The Candidate should be self-motivated;
    team player; creative; possess passion to alleviate poverty and bring
    about human development and the ability to perform to outstanding
    standards under minimum supervision and tight deadlines.
  • The candidate must have excellent
    documentation and analytical skills.
  • Keen attention to details as wells share
    ideas, add value to the existing work, proactive , with principles and
    easily interacts with people from all socioeconomic background.
  • Other desirable attributes include
    empathy, accommodative, decisive, patience, knowledgeable, open minded and
    articulate.
