for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling the
electricity in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is
also responsible for all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. UETCL
envisions: “To become a leading strategic business partner in the transmission
and Single Buyer Business and to support sustainable energy development in
Uganda.”

Job Summary: The Assistant
Project Manager will support the Project Manager in planning, co-ordination and
control of the project from its start to the time it is completed. The
incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the requirements regarding the
functionality, specifications and standards are met. He /She will also be
responsible for ensuring that the project is concluded successfully.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Assuming
Operational Management of the project in consistency with the
project document, policies and procedures. - Ensuring
that the project outputs are achieved as identified in the Project
Document and as advised and instructed by the Project Coordinator. - Tasked
with amending the Work Plan in accordance to output delivery. - Overseeing
the financial management of the project in consultation with the Project
Coordinator and other relevant offices. - Setting
and agreeing on tasks and timelines for consultants and contractors, and
oversee their execution and performance. - Keeping
record of project related documents. - Preparing
and submit all necessary reports (including weekly progress, monthly
progress) as required by management. - Work
closely with the Project Coordinator, prepare mandatory and any other
budget revisions or Project Implementation Plan revisions as necessary. - Facilitating
and cooperate with audit processes at all times as required. - Organizing
and oversee any financiers’ supervision missions set during the period of
the project lifetime. - In
charge of scheduling and coordinating all types of design reviews during
the construction process. - Supervising
consultants as they manage the EPC contracts. - Ensuring
that the project is completed within the specified time lines. - Ensuring
that the contractors adhere to all safety requirements. - And carry out any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the UETCL
Assistant Project Manager job placement should hold a University Degree in Electrical or
Civil or Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant qualification. - The
applicant must hold professional registration with relevant body will be
added advantage. - Additional
training in Project Management will be added advantage. - Broad
knowledge of Industrial & SHE regulations. - Significant
exposure and experience in managing multi-lateral financed
projects. - Experience
in PPDA and donor-funded procurement guidelines and reporting practises. - Computer
literacy skills with proficiency in Ms Projects or similar project
scheduling and monitoring tool. - Hold
a valid National Driving Permit. - Must
have Analytical skills, Interpersonal skills, Supervisory skills,
Report writing skills. - Ability
to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness to work long
hours outside the normal hours. - Hold
impeccable integrity, highly motivated, innovative and a committed team
player. - Willingness
travel extensively and be away from duty station for extended periods.
