• Support
  the Projects through preparation of weekly, monthly quarterly and annual
  project progress report.
• The
  jobholder will also review and cause approval of designs as submitted by
  the Contractor through the Supervision Consultant
• Co-ordinate
  all civil engineering related works and ensure that there is no collusion
  between contracted parties.
• Supervise
  all the Geo-technical soil investigations and tests and cause timely
  approval of the results by the responsible officer;
• Work
  in liaison with the Consultant for supervision to carry out daily
  supervision of all physical works particularly on civil engineering
  aspects of the substations and the transmission line.
• Witness
  and/or sample the foundation depth, metal work, form mixture ratios and be
  present during all tests right from soil investigation, quality and
  quantities of materials delivered, form setting, backfilling and equipment
  loading on to the foundations and any other civil related tests until the
  full commissioning and hand-over of the plant.
• Ensure
  quality control, safety issues and economy of works for all the civil
  engineering related works in line with the contract requirements.
• Quality
  assurance including checking and approving the quality of civil designs,
  concrete and materials such as sand, gravel, cement and steel.
• Perform any other duties as may be
  assigned from time to time.

• The ideal applicant for the UETCL Civil
  Engineer job placement should hold a University Degree in Civil Engineering or similar relevant
  qualification.
• Professional
  registration with relevant body will be added advantage.
• The
  applicant must have been involved in the construction and or construction
  supervision/management of at least three (3) transmission line
  construction projects of at least 132kV and 50km long.
• Additional
  training in Project Management skills will be added advantage.
• Comprehensive
  knowledge of Industrial & SHE regulations.
• Computer
  literacy in Ms Projects or similar project scheduling and
  monitoring tool.
• Hold 
  a valid National Driving
  Permit.
• Must
  have Analytical skills, Interpersonal skills, Supervisory skills, Report
  writing skills.
• Ability
  to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness to work
  long hours outside the normal hours.
• A
  person of high integrity, must be highly motivated, innovative and a committed
  team player.
• Must
  be willing to travel extensively and be away from duty station for
  extended periods.
