About Project:
ChildFund Uganda intends to implement a three year maternal, new born
and child survival project in 4 sub counties in Busia District. The purpose of
the project is to increase availability, access and utilization of high quality
health services both at community and health facilities. This will be done by
improving access and quality of ECD services and strengthening health systems
both at community and health facility.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer – Maternal, Newborn and Child Survival will steer the training and
mentoring of community health volunteers in the project Area and facilitate
health care quality improvement initiatives at health facility and community
level.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The incumbent will prepare project Work
    plans and budgets.
  • Take lead in the training and mentoring of
    community health volunteers in the Project Area.
  • Build and strengthen linkages between
    communities and health facilities.
  • Facilitate health care quality improvement
    initiatives at health facility and community levels.
  • Coordinate the Project activities with
    other stakeholders, local Government leaders and other non -Government
    organizations within and outside the district.
  • Prepare activity, quarterly and annual
    project reports
  • Document promising practices including
    writing case stories, project briefs and other communication materials.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the ChildFund
    Project Officer – Maternal, Newborn and Child Survival job opportunity
    should preferably hold a medical background with at least a diploma in
    Midwifery (Registered Midwife) or Clinical medicine and other Community
    health.
  • Additional training in Public Health is an
    added advantage.
  • The applicant must be registered with the
    relevant professional council.
  • At least two years’ experience in
    implementing community health projects
  • Computer Knowledge and skills in the use
    of MS Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skill
  • Willingness to work in a rural community.
  • Ability to ride or willingness to learn
    how to ride a motorcycle.
  • Knowledge of the local context is
    desirable as he/she will constantly interface with the community members.
