Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Finance Manager, the
Senior Accountant- Grants contributes to the effective management of LWF
Accounting standards and is responsible for overseeing the Project portfolio of
LWF Uganda while working closely Program/Grant Managers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Participate
in budget development during proposal writing, is responsible for Budget
consolidation for all proposals developed and shares for review by Finance
manager.
·
Participate
in budget revision/modification for grants and prepares final draft for review
by Finance Manager
·
For all
new grants, study grant guidelines and take lead to orient other finance and
project staff donor rules and regular at the start of the project.
·
Prepare
Donor Financial Reports as required by Grant Agreements and ensure to have
reports submitted to donor in timely manner.
·
On
monthly basis, prepare Project Performance reports for Grant Managers and
Project managers.
·
Perform
Project monitoring and controlling activities on all running projects and
Finance manager on any issues that may require attention.
·
Lead and
manage Grant Specific Audits as per the grant agreement.
·
Responsible
for custody of Grant agreements, Financial reports, Project audit reports and
Finance expense support documentation.
·
Responsible
for tracking donor installments and preparation of funds request for all
projects when due.
·
Responsible
project closure in financial system.
·
Undertakes
any other related duties as may reasonably be assigned the Finance Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant must hold a University Degree in Commerce, Business Administration,
or other relevant field of study;
·
A member
of the Institute of the Public Accountants of Uganda Preferable at Level II
with sound knowledge of Financial Management is an added advantage;
·
At least
five years of professional experience in grants management preferably on large
donor funded programmes
·
Experience
in the use of Accounting Package (Preferably SAGE 300 ERP)
·
Good
oral and written communication in English and an ability to write synthetic,
concise and clear reports;
·
Strong
analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to gather information from
different (sometimes conflicting) sources, and synthesize it to arrive at an
accurate picture of the situation;
·
An
independent frame of mind and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
·
Highest
degree of integrity and accountability
·
Information
Technology (MS Office, Internet and outlook);
·
Ability
to work under minimum supervision;
·
Ability
to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
·
Flexibility
towards work and dependable;
·
Result
oriented and personal integrity;
·
Ability
to inspire and build capacity of other finance staff;
·
Good
team player with good communication skills;
