Job Summary: The Child
Sponsorship and Development Facilitator will guide and facilitate programme
development, monitoring and implementation in an Area Progranme (AP) in line
with programme plans.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Guide AP programme planning and Development:
  • The incumbent will support and guide AP
    scheduled assessments, evaluations and designs.
  • Facilitate development of the AP design
    document and Annual Operations Plans/Detailed implementation Plans.
  • Gather and analyze community perspectives,
    and prepare annual work plans and cash flows.
  • The jobholder will write concept papers
    and proposals for non-sponsorship fundraising.
  • Tasked with monitoring of progress and
    achievements of programmes in the AP.
Monitoring and track progress of programme implementation:
  • Organize AP level forums to assess
    progress of implementation of planned activities.
  • Monitor progress of programme/project
    interventions against plans within the AP.
  • Organize review, reflection and learning
    forum for AP staff, community, local organizations and government.
Documentation and sharing of programme learning:
  • Tasked with the mobilization of communities,
    local organizations and institutions for programme development and
    implementation.
  • Mobilize community participation in
    programme/project planning, development, implementation and monitoring.
  • The incumbent will also mobilize
    government institutions and technical staff in the planning and
    implementation of AP programmes and plans.
  • Mobilse grassroots organizations, Churches
    and other civil society organizations on poverty reduction.
  • Build AP level partnerships, networks and
    coalitions with civil society organizations and local government
    institutions.
  • Facilitate networking with government
    institutions and other development partners within the AP in planning and
    implementation of development programmes.
  • The incumbent will identify and nurture
    local partnerships with grassroots civil society organizations, Churches
    and sub county government.
  • Build and facilitate the capacity and
    growth of community and grassroots organizations.
  • Facilitate growth of strong grassroots
    movements on specific advocacy issues.
  • Build leadership and mobilization capacity
    of programme/project committees and facilitate their participation in
    programme/project development activities.
Child Protection:
  • Actively facilitate the operations and
    functioning of AP child protection committee.
  • Ensure adherence at AP of child protection
    policy, guidelines and protocols.
  • Management of sponsorship performance
  • Support and facilitate sponsorship staff
    and sponsorship service operations in the AP.
  • Monitor performance of sponsorship
    performance in line with child sponsorship standards.
  • Proper and efficient management and use of
    AP finance and assets.
  • AP financial and asset resources are
    managed and used in line with policy guidelines.



Reporting:

  • Prepare AP quality and timely reports to
    keep track of progress of planned activities within the area of operation.
  • Produce timely and quality bi-annual and
    annual reports.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the World Vision Child
    Sponsorship and Development Facilitator job opportunity should hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Education or any
    relevant field and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and
    Management
  • A minimum of five years’ experience
    working with communities in development.
  • Previous exposure and experience in WVU
    key sectors of Health and Nutrition, Education, Livelihoods or child
    protection desired.
  • Strong results orientation with ability to
    handle a heavy work load with minimal supervision, manage and satisfy
    multiple conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and
    maintain effective working relationships with all staff and other key
    partners.
