The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer- HIV/AIDS Refugee Programme will work closely with the relevant
stakeholders in the West Nile Program to ensure provision of quality and timely
provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to clients within the refugee
settings in line with identified needs and available funding.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Identification of both known and newly
    identified PLHIV in refugee settlements
  • Act as the linkage of identified HIV
    positive clients to HIV, GBV, and other related care and support services
  • Ensure Quality HIV care and treatment
    including differentiated service delivery for clients in refugee
    settlements
  • Work in liaison with the different
    stakeholders to support accreditation of ART sites in refugee settlements
    in line with MoH standards
  • Coordinate and support training for health
    workers in HIV/AIDS care and related fields
  • Provide input in the drawing of Project
    work plans and budgets as required
  • Manage quality and timely reporting to
    donors and other Project stakeholders.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor
    of Medicine and Surgery Degree or degree in other health related
    discipline from a recognized University
  • Also, hold an Advanced Degree in Public
    health or a related health field
  • Possession of a post graduate diploma in
    Project Planning and management will be an added advantage.
  • Registered with the Uganda Medical and
    Dental Practitioners Council
  • Additional training in comprehensive
    HIV/AIDS care will be an added advantage
  • At least two years of successful
    management of public health/Health Systems strengthening/ HIV & AIDS
    projects.
  • Familiarity with PEPFAR/US Government
    programming policies and procedures
