About REMAC-NiE Project:
Plan International will collaborate with the Office of the
Prime-minister (OPM) – Refugee Department, United Nations Human Rights
Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the District Local Governments working closely
with United Nations (UN), other United Nations (UN) Agencies (FAO, IOM, UNDP,
UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, WFP, and WHO) and NGO partners supplementing
governmental efforts to implement the Reaching Every Mother and Child in
Emergency (REMAC-NiE) Project. In addition, Ministry of Health will provide
technical guidance and support in relation to life-saving nutrition
interventions focusing on Maternal, New-born & Child Health (MNCH).

Job Summary: The Nutrition
Officer will guide the actual implementation of the activities – Nutrition
Response Project in Adjumani district in collaboration with key partners. S/he
will provide guidance at the field level to ensure effective implementation of
timely and effective work-planning, budget management and reporting according
to the grant agreement / donor requirements and Plan International’s policies.

Support to Project team:
- Actively participates in developing a
project outline and quarterly and monthly project work-plans and budgeting
for the project. - Manages the project budget to support
delivery of MCH with much emphasis on nutrition in Adjumani district. - Coordinates health promotion and demand
creation interventions for Nutrition, MCH, HIV prevention/EMTCT and safe
motherhood both at facility and community levels. - The incumbent organises and coordinates
capacity building interventions for the district-based health workforce so
as to ensure quality delivery of services. - Organises awareness raising activities on
health promotion and health services, including MCHN and EMTCT - Organises participatory project monitoring
and evaluation sessions at community and facility level - Takes part in the collection of data and
documentation for project, including compiling activity reports. - Maintains the project resources, assets
and documents
Sponsorship Commitments Responsibilities:
- Understands the sponsorship commitments
and supports Plan International Uganda team at all times to work with them
and meet the commitment to Sponsored Children and sponsors - Carries out mandatory Sponsored Child
family visits
Communications and Working Relationships:
- Project Coordinator for the REMAC-NiE
Project: who is the direct line-supervisor for the nutrition Officer. - Emergency Response Manager: who is
responsible for overall programme management at the Programme Unit - District and health facility teams:
Technical support in planning and budgeting, implementation and monitoring
of project supported MCHN, including HIV/EMTCT services.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant for the Plan International
Nutrition Officer job placement should preferably hold a degree/diploma in
a suitable health discipline. - A minimum of two years of hands-on
experience implementing Community-based Health projects, especially
Nutrition, MCH, HIV prevention/EMTCT. - Broad knowledge on nutrition, MCH and safe
motherhood and HIV prevention and EMTCT is a MUST. - Extensive knowledge of WASH will be an
added advantage - Hands-on experience of working in
emergency and rural settings. - Practical experience in working with
district and community health systems, including Village Health Teams
(VHT). - Broad knowledge and understanding of
current policy developments in Nutrition, MCH and HIV/AIDS/EMTCT. - Knowing the language spoken in the
district is an added advantage. - Ability to ride a motorcycle is a MUST
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
programmes, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point. - Strong skills in teamwork and networking.
- Excellent communication skills (written
and oral). - Excellent skills in documentation and
report writing - Excellent budget management skills is a
MUST - Excellent negotiation and influencing
skills in multi-cultural contexts
