About USAID NCSC Project:
The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is implementing the
“Supporting Access to Justice, Fostering Equity & Peace” (SAFE Program)
funded by USAID. USAID-SAFE is a five-year development Program that seeks to
strengthen the Government of Uganda’s capacity with respect to peace building
and conflict mitigation.
Job Summary: The Development
Outreach & Communications Specialist (DOCS) will support the USAID Project
by designing and producing reports, web content and brochures; scheduling and
coordinating events with media coverage; producing radio/video or social media;
and for creating content for the program website and other reports. The DOC
Specialist must tailor content for relevant audiences and constituencies. The
DOC Specialist will compile and organize photographs for use in reporting and
publications.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The Development Outreach &
    Communications Specialist will create external and internal outreach
    materials using print, radio and web media.
  • Oversee the development of the Program’s
    outreach and communication strategy and products, including press
    releases, success stories, conference events, campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate effective implementation of SAFE
    Branding & Marking Plan.
  • The jobholder will also develop and manage
    the production of publications such as newsletters and brochures.
  • Work in close coordination with the SAFE
    team, ensure donor, partner, and key stakeholder are informed of
    activities and outcomes through effective writing and photography.
  • Build and manage relationships with media,
    graphic designers, and publishing vendors, as appropriate.
  • Provide regular written/verbal program
    progress updates, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant for the USAID Development
    Outreach & Communications Specialist (DOCS) job placement must hold a
    University degree in relevant field, such as journalism, public policy
    analysis, communication. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of related work
    experience in an outreach role on a related USAID Program.
  • Previous experience in incorporating
    gender and youth issues in project outreach is highly desirable.
  • Previous exposure and experience related
    to program outreach and communications fora broad range of audiences.
  • The incumbent should have demonstrated
    experience in writing and editing content for print and all forms of
    social media, with audiences including local counterparts from government
    and civil society, USAID, and other stakeholders.
  • Previous experience and contacts with
    print, broadcast and social media required.
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and
    photography skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media and
    web publishing skills (using established content management
  • Fluency in English with excellent writing
    skills.
